If prime Ali was saying he'd have whooped old Louis then that'd be a totally unnecessary thing to say true.

Neither situation are relevant to our discussion on Froch and Golovkin in which a fighter only a few years retired and apparently still able to compete if he wanted to is saying he'd beat an active fighter. Louis vs Ali could never happen. Froch Golovkin realistically could hence why they previously opened negotiations for that fight happening. It's a completely different situation.

 

Ali talked a 'big game' as you said despite no chance of him ever being able to back it up. Its his opinion just like Calzaghe and Froch had their opinions. Froch vs Golovkin has zero chance of happening. It wasn't an option 2 years ago , its less of one now.. Its not realistic in the slightest.
