70/30 may be unreasonable but would you take a 50/50 split if you were the champ?I don't think Taylor will take the fight for less than 50/50 which is why I don't see this fight happening. It would be a shame because I'd like to see this fight it could be an interesting one. I have no problem with Taylor apart from maybe a couple of negative performances when he was middleweight champ. Also his trainer apparently said 'Who the f**k is Carl Froch?' in the build up to the Pascal fight which is slightly disrespectful and distasteful on Taylors part
People are so ****ing stupid sometimes. Why would Taylor get in the ring with Hopkins x2, Pavlik x2, Lacy and Wright, but then duck Froch? I like Froch, I think he could win this, if Taylor didn't have a SMW fight against Lacy he wouldn't have been seen as a credible threat at SMW.
Cory Spinks can be a difficult man to look good against and Kassim Ouma ate some incredible shots in that fight. I'll admit Taylor didn't look great in these fights, but he's made great improvements in terms of going forward since the first Pavlik fight. Fact is, he took tough fights. If I was Champion with little name recognition, maybe I'd still consider 50/50 against someone who has been in with the best. Maybe not, I don't know, but I do know that Taylor should get more than 30%.
70-30 would be good if there was only 1 champ per division....it would make legitimate stars in the sport and to be the man you would have to beat the man....but in reality Froch knows that he ain't getting no purse like that off Taylor, and the fight will have to happen in the US anyway....
For the money Taylor/Froch would pull in, a 50% share for Froch would be way more than what he would make on a 70-30 split fighting Karo Murat, who would be his mandatory if the talks w/Taylor don't go anywhere. In other words... Carl can split a really big pie with Taylor and get exposure on American television against a popular American fighter, or eat the lion's share of a cupcake against Murat and end up being the next Mikkel "The Danish Hermit" Kessler. His choice.
Froch should take this fight in the USA even if it's 50-50. I say that because if Froch really believes he can beat Taylor, and then he comes to the USA and proves it, that's huge!
70/30 split? Froch is a fool thats obviously trying to cash in (or more likely out). Of course Taylor wants to fight him. He's cherry picking a belt. Froch is a B level fighter, and much easier fight than Bute or Kessler. But if Frosh prices himself out, I'm sure Inkin will be available.
And that's the truth! If JT picks up a belt, Taylor/Kessler will be a huge unification fight. I really think that's where this is headed.
