you definitely will get better odds with a bookie in the states. froch v. taylor looks like it will open up, here in the states, at about 1.5-1.75 to 1 in favor of taylor...could be as high as 2 to 1. froch gets the rap of being a regional uk slugger and little more here in the states. in my opinion froch is a b-level fighter. jean pascal is no world beater and froch sustained heavy damage against him and had to dig deep to hold on to win against him...i think that fight really highlighted that froch is wide open while he is throwing punches and loses his balance very easily when tapped while throwing. that said, i also think that froch does have a world class punch that is underrated in the states. he could knock out anybody at 168 that he can cleanly pop a few times. i only wish froch would learn how to cut off the ring and work a guy on the ropes, work the body. that's his only shot against a technician with speed and a long jab. i must say, despite my criticisms, i favor froch in this fight, against the domestic odds...less because i think a lot of him and more because i think it is grossly underestimated how shopworn and ailing taylor is. taylor was never an articulate nobel laureate or anything, but i was shocked listening to he and jeff lacy be interviewed before their fight...both of them seemed to show slightly slurred speech and trouble focusing. taylor looked good in that fight, mostly, i think, because lacy was, even then, still so vastly overrated. taylor's fights with pavlik--and, i should say, i don't think much of pavlik--seem to have really drained his storehouse of vitality and power in some permanent way. mix that in with froch's power...add a pinch of taylor's reduced speed at 168 and i think if froch can hurt him early, he could be looking at a knockout or easily cruise to a decision victory.
