Sadly enough you're proably right there ( even tho froch has the belt )

I honestly dont have a problem with fights in the states , just the assumption that every ' big ' fight has to take place there. I get the argument about tv money etc but this is supposed to be a world championship its supposed to belong to the world not 10,000 people in a vegas casino and TV isnt the same !

P.S. Crackin They Live avatar , watched that on TV about a month ago with a head full of shrooms and it made an already hilarious film just about unmissable !

    here's a quote from DiBella, Taylor's promoter

"We are absolutely interested in fighting Carl Froch. If Froch is willing to come to North America, we are willing to make the fight. After watching Froch's fight with Pascal, I will no longer say, 'Who the Froch is Froch?' I saw who he is and he's a pretty damn good fighter. I think him and Jermain would make for a very good fight. Jermain told me that he wants the WBC title."

this is the kinda thing , not " we would be honoured if Carl brought his title over to fight Jermain " maybe not as flowery as that but certianly not the lazy assumption that the champ should come to the other guys country and fight in front of an American ref and three American judges ( maybe one from Pureto Rico as a pretend non American.

Am I the only one seeing this

This isnt a dig at PH|LLA just seems unfair.

Actually, Kessler (And Mogens Palle) has stated in the danish media, that they are willing to fight for less, if they get a good name to fight in the US...

Dibella's word choice makes sense if you consider that Froch is the one who has been chasing Taylor since June.

There is no getting around the fact that Froch needs Taylor more than Taylor needs Froch. You can call Froch "the champ" or whatever, but the fact is that Taylor is still perceived by most fans to be the more proven, more successful "champ", even though he doesn't currently hold a title.

Froch's name won't do much for Taylor's resume.

Taylor's scalp would make Froch an instant boxing celebrity (look what it did for Pavlik).

Taylor would be the one giving Froch an opportunity. Not vice versa.

Typical Taylor. He pulled exactly the same sh1t when he ducked Howard Eastman a few years ago after Eastman's promoter won the purse bid. The guy is obviously willing to take on the best guys inside a cosy little American clique but isn't willing to get his passport and go take a chance outside his home country in a possible hostile environment. This will hurt his legacy a few years from now.

I used that language to make a point ( c'mon Paulie I know you're not the sharpest tool in the shed but you can see that ;) )

Fact is tho Taylor can't draw flies , I like him , I think he would give Froch big trouble becasue he is well schooled but he cannot pull numbers.

anyway as i said its not that the fight may be in the states I can live with that its the assumption that it would never be anywhere else. Or at least admit Taylor is scared of flying.

    Who are these most fans?

Where did you conduct your survey?

Are you asking because of the way I worded my comment, or because you really believe that most fans perceive Froch is more proven and successful than Taylor?

It's just interesting how perceptions are.

It's accepted as an article of faith, for instance, that Jermaine Taylor is 'more popular', 'better known' etc than Carl Froch.

But Carl Froch's last fight was watched by way more people than have ever watched a Jermaine Taylor fight and I guarantee you that a fair proportion of those fans would not be able to identify Jermaine Taylor if shown a photograph.
