Carl Froch will defend his IBF World super middleweight title against IBF number six Yusaf Mack at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham on Saturday November 17, live on Sky Sports.

Speaking about Bute, who faces Denis Grachev in a light-heavyweight bout in November, Froch said his rematch with the man from whom he took the IBF belt is still on course for early next year and that it could be at light-heavyweight.
"Maybe March, maybe April," said Froch. "If that fight is going to happen it's going to be early next year, and I have to honour the agreement and go over to his backyard in Canada and fight him for the rematch. I didn't think he'd want it immediately, so we're both having interim fights. We both have tough fights at light-heavyweight, so you never know we might meet at light-heavyweight.

Carl Froch said when speaking to Sky Sports: "Toontoon is wrong, I'm fighting at Super Middleweight, hence why it's for my SMW belt "

Hearn taking advantage of Carl's popularity in Nottingham.Lousy fight with a lousy opponent.
So this is what a "Champion" purports to be a "major announcement"?

I'm afraid I pretty much agree.......

As much as I respect Froch, and recognise he never backs down from a challenge, I always find these 'homecoming' fights a bit of an insult.

They are sold as a fighters way of showing appreciation to his loyal fans, but are more often than not mismatches that provide little in the way of genuine challenge or excitement (Calzaghe and Manfredo anyone?!).

I appreciate nobody wants to see their hero beaten, but maybe at the least thay should put these things on in massive arenas and charge an affordable ticket price; thus making the necessary profits, but at the same time letting as many of the loyal fans as possible see the action.:think

The problem is finding an opponent who would take the fight because not only are they signing to fight Froch, if they win, they have to go and fight Bute in Canada. We know that plenty of good level boxers were offered the fight - most notably Kessler and Pavlik - and if they aren't going to accept, then an opponent like Mack was always going to happen. It's not what any of us want to see but the alternative is not fighting at all.

I don't think Hearn was serious about making a Pavlik or Kessler fight at this stage, especially with the Bute rematch already lined up. It was always going to be a routine defence.

You would think the prices would be different then, as far as I can see they are the same as Bute

The arena holds what 8 or 9k? Maybe if it was somewhere bigger you'd have a cheaper range of tickets. Or perhaps Hearn is convinced that Froch is a big enough name that he'll sell out the arena at those prices even against someone like Mack.

I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't sell out, not many people on here seem arsed, but for the Bute fight everyone wanted to go

Wouldn't be surprised if Bute fights at 175
