Im not a big joe.C fan, fair enough he got a flash knock down but come on m8 he got well outboxed, was holding on and when it got tough for him he claimed a low blow so maybe rewatch that one and by the way Joe C is exactly not a young grass hopper either. I just hate American mentality agaist British fighters If people are so into there boxing why do they not look at world scene and not just whats going on in there back yard.

False. Mitchell and Brewer were decent, hungry, heavy handed and at their best.

 

...and both had lost to Sven Ottke in their last fight....

 

Woodhall was a better boxer than Froch. By miles. But Carl is probably tougher.

Froch is similar to a prime Robin Reid but with a worse defence.

 

Both were robbed against Ottke who just had to last 12 rounds in Germany to be awarded a gift decision.

 

Come on, be realistic. A German fighter, fighting in Germany, gets a gift deicision. Seems very unlikely to me.

 

Not true in Brewer's case as both Ottke fights had been a few years earlier. Nonetheless, I doubt very much whether being pitty-patted to a points loss by Ottke is going to suddenly take it all out of a fighter, don't you?

Brewer and Mitchell should have KO'ed Ottke though if he was that bad. Perhaps Ottke is slightly underrated.

If Calzaghe had retired before fighting Lacy he'd probably be regarded as BELOW Ottke!

 

Froch is obviously jealous of Joe Calzaghe's success and recognition.

Froch is over-reaching now by matching up with Taylor and he'll be EXPOSED as a Top European level boxer fighting a Top World level fighter.

 

Nobody said he was that bad (or I didn't anyway). No doubt he was a world class fighter, but he was also one who seemed to specialise in "doing just enough" and making fights where nothing much happened but he could rely on the judges to see it his way. Good ring generalship maybe, apart from that...

As for the second point, maybe but then again if my auntie had bollocks...

The fact that the likes of Brewer and Mitchell have to be talked up, just goes to show how bad Calzaghe's resume really is.

And what you talking about, Ottke was one of the hardest and more fierce punchers the sport of boxing has ever seen.

One of the most corrupt championship reigns in boxing history. They'd of even found a way to screw Roy Jones Jr if he fought over there!

 

I'm not sure which parts of this post are a **** take and which (if any) are serious. However, no need to talk them up, both were world champs and legitimate top ten fighters. Two good wins on the resume right there. Not exceptional to be sure, but good nonetheless.
