to be honest there is no contest, Froch has faced the best opposition that any British fighter has faced, while Joe had 2 great fights against top opposition and then faced a couple of older superstars ( although his win over Hopkins looks better now )
Joe really struggles to show Carl any recognition and i bet he hates seeing him do well .

We have about 30 threads all making the same point.

Actually, Calzaghe has given Froch plenty of praise in the last 2 years. Joe picked Froch to stop AA and said on Five Live that Carl deserves to fight Johnson at home. Joe has also said loads of other nice things recently.

Head to head he probably is. But look at Frochs resume. Froch is a ****ing stud and a shining example of what Joe SHOULD have been doing. Joe was more than content to lavish on his WBO defences in his back yard as Britains number one comfort fighter. Where as Froch has been into the Lions Den and back and has consistently faced the BEST competition in his weight division. And despite being a rank outsider his sheer will, tenacity, chin, punch and terrific conditioning - although being a somewhat limited fighter - has proven he is without a doubt one of the best super middles this country has ever produced.
He's a credit to boxing and i hope Joe is hanging his head in shame watching Froch's glorious career. When all is said and done fans and history will be kind to Froch and remember his finest hours. Frankly apart from the Eubank fight no one gives a **** about any of the tin cans Joe faced. Much less for facing Hop and RJJ in the twilight of their careers because he stood to make a handsome pay day. Joe was a fantastically selfish individual and fighter. And this shows glaringly in his resume and his attitude to boxing and its fans.

Froch resume pretty much matches Calazghe considering time frame he has done it in-

    W J. Pascal
    W A. Abraham
    W A. Dirrell
    W L. Bute
    W. G. Johnson

    Joe wins

    W C. Eubank
    W. R. Reid
    W. J. Lacy
    W M. Kessler
    W B. Hopkins

How when Hopkins was mostly fowling, faking being fouled and excessively holding for most of the fight? He lost just by being outworked.

Carl is the sort of man Joe will never be. Within 30 fights we saw a man who fought the very best in every fight and we saw him do it inside 30 fights. HOWEVER Froch will never ever beat Joe Calzaghe or win ANY more than 3 rounds on his BEST night. He has absolutely NOTHING for Joe. Joe is too fast, too skilled, too fit and just too god damn good. He'll feed him his southpaw jab and by the time he has finished shoe shining him Carl will gleam like the Champions League trophy.

    Meh, both top fighters

Joe had more class but Carl is a legend for his sheer balls, a lot of people say things, he does it

Would've been a great match but just a couple of years out timing wise unfortunately

    Both men deserve big respect

Calzaghe didn't make the fights, VVarren did.

Yes we all know Joe was nervous as **** about fighting and we all know he was at times reluctant.

But he answered every question in his career that was ever asked of him.

And for the 1 millionth time to the guys going on about Hopkins........

If he was past his peak when Joe faught him, when was his peak?

Joe deals with a younger Hopkins much easier IMO.

  15. Both great fighters. It's not a pissing contest FFS. We have been lucky to witness two legends in one division.
