How's it going mate? Has your opinion changed at all, since you first made this thread? I think Joe would have won, but I certainly don't think it would have been easy for him. Get on the 'Wlad K - speed' thread, it's gone crazy.
He topped up the pension fund against two legends instead. It's a shame Froch wasn't in the Robin Reid era.
Slightly. I can't ever rule him totally out when you factor in how Reid continuously kracked him dome with the right hand. And Froch defeated guys with fast hands in brutal fashion. Bute and Groves. The more Calzaghe comes in the more he takes. He was just too wreckless throwing combos. It would be very close for sure. Froch really impressed with the Groves rematch. Only top level fighters take an immediate rematch and turn around the result like he did. Thats the sort of mind set he'd have for Joe
Hiya mate, im fine thanks, how you been? He was susceptible to getting dropped early, but other than the Jones forearm he was never badly hurt by any of them, and his powers of recovery were phenominal He had a very good chin and survival instinct. Those Kessler uppercuts in R4 were brutal and rocked him down to his boots, but he wasnt going anywhere and handled it like a true champ (desipte "not knowing what day of the week it was" ). I doubt Froch could hit him any harder than that Also, even if he did get dropped cold and a Froch bumrush ensued, there wouldnt be a British stoppage this time
Quite a wide UD for Calzaghe although I'd expect each round to be competitive. Froch might score a couple of flash knockdowns too to narrow the cards. I think Carl said himself that he'd have next to no chance of outpointing the Welshman and his plan would be to finish him late. There's just one problem with that plan, we no Calzaghe had incredible stamina. That's something even his fiercest detractors would struggle to deny.
Calzaghe would destroy Froch. 1. See Ward vs. Froch. Ward, featherfisted fighter with a broken hand, put a beating on Froch before getting tired and fading down the stretch, allowing the scores to get closer than they should have been. 2. Calzaghe could take Froch's best shots, but wouldn't need to because he was too skilled to be getting hit by Froch. 3. Calzaghe would not get tired, ever. 4. Calzaghe would fight inside the jab of Froch, making his best weapon useless. There is literally no way that Froch could win that fight. It would not be close, and I don't even see how Froch wins a single round. He would never outwork or outland Calzaghe, he doesn't have the skill to drop him with a counterpunch, and it's not possible to knock Calzaghe out or wear him down. Calzaghe is just better, technically and physically. There's a reason the fight was laughed off way back when.
Its just not close, even Ward couldn't believe how slow Froch was. Taylor had Froch is all sorts of trouble and is half the fighter Joe is. It would be a complete domination.
Calzaghe would have nothing to stop Froch who goes beast-mode in the 2nd half of fights. I think Froch wins What im sure of is Calzaghe wanted no part of him. His actions and constant attempt to downplay Froch's accomplishments scream" I ducked him and I know it".
ill have half of whatever you are on. Pillow puncher Ward beat Froch with one hand. This 'beast mode' you talk of would be swinging at fresh air. Joe ducked no man and beat much better fighters.
Too many just dismissing Froch Yeah he's got basically zero chance of winning, but it wouldnt be a Lacying
Regarding Reid, I've been reliably informed by Serge, that Joe had an injury and personal issues going into the fight. He tells me that he hardly sparred etc. But having said that, I believe that the fight would always have been competitive, due to their styles, their egos, and the atmosphere. I can definitely envisage Joe beating him, but I think it would have been very competitive. :good
