I think it would definitely have gone the distance. And despite Joe being an elite fighter, he wasn't always disciplined.

Carl had far more trouble with lesser fighters than Calzaghe.

No doubt, and I definitely think Joe would have beaten him. But I don't think it would have been the walk over that some people think.

In my opinion, there's no way that Joe would have won every single round and won 12-0.

There'd have been too much emotion involved. I can envisage both guys been dragged apart at the weigh in, and them having a shoot out in the middle of the fight with all science going out of the window.

    It would have been fun.

The only fighter Jermain Taylor dropped above 160 was Froch.

Froch had a great chin but I sometimes think people forget because of the many punches that he took that he could be hurt. As you note, he was knocked down by Taylor, looked wobbly against Dirrell at one point and down from Groves, who I dont think is as big a puncher as some think, although can hit.
That said I dont think Carl gets stopped

Also the body punches from Kessler had him whinning to the referee.

This is going to come off like a Froch bashing , but the recent wins over Bute and Groves have kind of glossed over the limitations against Calzaghe level fighters.

Froch would get hit so many times it would get very one sided and due to how many punches Joe throws it wouldn't surprise me if he was stopped on cuts.

Why couldn't he stop Kessler on cuts? Who was the best SMW Joe beat? Kessler. In a close fight where Kessler had a lot of success

Froch beat Kessler. You could even make a case he beat him twice.

Outside Kessler , Calzaghe hasn't one win against a fighter on Froch's level.

Lacy. And don't say he was a bum before he fought Joe he was blasting everybody out.

Hopkins albeit at 175 outboxes the hell out of Froch.

Mitchell and the Hatchet could beat him , they are bigger and better punchers than Groves.

...., because take away him and you half joes at least semi-decent opposition, just kessler alone in 10 years of so called title defences. (and possibly bika).

but at the end of he day, lacy got destroyed by a 40something more easily than joe outpointed him, because joe lacked power and accuracy, therefore using volume instead.

Arthur Abraham is better than Lacy. Better fighter and better win.

Groves would beat Mitchell to within an inch of his life. And Mitchell floored Calzaghe. Pre- Cobra'd Groves under Booth would beat the majority of Calzaghe's smw opponents.

They were all C class nobodies.

no, froch could adopt the same outgass strategy to beat 40something hopkins.

hes not, and he was retiring and recently the NABF loser when joe fought him, groves is not retiring.
ANd mitchell was cheat stopped for slipping whilst in the same round joe got a free pass from the cardiff ref for being floored.

Taylor also shutout Joe's career highlight.

And lets face facts, Lacy wouldn't have lasted 12 rounds against Froch.

Abrahams probably not that much better than Mario Veit, who gave Juergen Braehmer his first loss. Abrahams very limited, he got thrashed by Edison Miranda and outboxed by Paul Smith. That tells you all you need to know really.

Calzaghe has wins over Eubank, Woodhall, Reid, Mitchell, Brewer, Veitx2, Bika, Kessler, Lacy, Hopkins, Jones Jr.

That's nothing to be sniffed that, let's be honest George Groves or Degale won't get anywhere near close to that resume.

Im not sure. Prime Lacy before he got injured in the fight after Calzaghe and obviously before the massive loss, against prime Froch would be a tough match up for either.

    Speed I give to Lacy

Power I think is fairly even. Lacy possibly more explosive but Froch maybe more clubbing with his blows.

    Workrate I give to Lacy

    Footwork I give to Lacy

Chin to Froch, but prime Lacy had a decent chin

I dont think if they hadnt of fought that many would have thought Adamu would have gone 12 with Froch, let alone only lose debateably
