Yeah if he gets to the final (assuming both he and Ward make the final)...he doesn't want Ward giving him a wide UD, out-boxing him similar to what Dirrell was doing at times. That would look bad on Froch, and hype Ward up even more.

Calzaghe WIDE UD 8-4 is a best case loss for Froch

The cobra showed beautiful boxingskills against AA but...
    -AA is smaller
-AA is slow (and a slow starter)
    -AA is one dimensional
-AA keeps his guard in one position (a whole time)
-AA tried to land one shot at a time (all shots meant to KO Froch)

I like AA very much but I was dissapointed by his display. All these features along with Froch boxing more than brawling, prevented AA from landing anything meaningful, as long AA couldn't land, it was easy for the cobra to stick to his boxing gameplan. I think Calzaghe could disrupt him easy and make Froch go back to his brawler status...

A prime Calz would have beat a young inexperienced froch. As previously mentioned froch is a better fighter now so it would be more competitive. What would be interesting is if JC came back now - not that he would. Froch can punch and is an excellent finisher - I wander how froch would have dealt with calz early if he got him in trouble like bhop and RJJ. For me I certainly think a young RJJ would have not let calz of the hook like the old version of RJJ.

Me I prefer to admire both Joe and Froch for what they are. I prefer Froch as a man and a fighter in that he is a mans man. Fronts up like a man and avoids nobody. The same can't quite be said for calz.

i like froch, he's got balls, (apart from when it comes to standing up to his bird)
but i think calzaghe would have beaten him, all day long.

He did so.. This is not in question. JC had balls for sure, when he displayed punching power early on in has career he was very dangerous when hurt. The mitchell fight was testament to this. My point is based on what if he fought a young dangerous finisher such as froch late on in his career and would he have escaped in ths same way he did against faded legends such as Bhop and RJJ.

Froch has the better fight record but Calzaghe beats him by a wide UD. For every puch Froch throws, Calzaghe throws 4 or 5. You can dodge the first and maybe the second, but the ones that follow will hit you. Bad style match-up for the Cobra.

Calzaghe wide UD. People forget the Kessler Calzaghe beat was on an amazing run and looked alot more explosive with the straight punches than he does now. In all fairness to Froch he's proved he's world class lately but he's only there with great conditioning and heart, he does not have KO power imo. I think despite what people say Calzaghe's skill set was tested and proven over a long period of time against many different styles. I also think that you have to take into account Calzaghe's wins were a few years ago Froch's wins could lose all there hype by then, Pascal could be a one hit wonder and AA could go down to middle and lose again.
