It's not crazy to say Golovkin could or would win. It is crazy to say he has proven himself to be better than Froch or he is proven elite level, because he simply hasn't fought the opponents to show that. But you can look at a prospect far greener than Golovkin and make a judgement call on how far they will go and with each passing fight, you can tell to a greater extent bar certain intangibles.

Golovkin sparked Bute with one shot as amateurs and from watching him he is technically a better puncher than Froch, goes to the body better, is less wide and open to counters and appears to have punch one shot power too.

That said, whilst it is fair to say he could cause problems for Froch and fair to pick him if you believe in his intangible qualities like chin, heart etc...I would fancy Froch in this fight.

Golovkin puts shots together nicely, but his hand speed is nothing special and speed has always caused Froch the most problems. Golovkin is very hittable and so a mid range slug fest is very probable. The fact is that we don't know how he reacts to being tagged flush, we don't know how he reacts to a person taking several shots from him, firing back, pushing him backwards and not only not folding but returning fire with aggression.

He would not physically dominate Froch or back him up easily. Froch is unorthodox but would find his jab landing and find that his power shots had a fairly straight forward target that did not really slip off to the side or move quickly out of range either.

It would be a fascinating and exciting fight and I'm not sure why there has been such hostility in the discussion so far as nobody has really said anything particularly outlandish or controversial. A solid case can be made for either guy, depending really on whether you give more weight to the technical side or to the fact that one man is proven and one has question marks yet to be answered.

Cracking post mate agree big time. I think froch should take this bout with bells on. He would be 60/40 favourite imo and it would be another reason for the hardcore fan to respect his achievements and desire to entertain. Its more than dangerous enough to get froch to perform and i think it will have a delayed impact on his resume. When ggg goes on to perform feats in the division and be evermore avoided, frochs legacy would only look better. He'll pack anywhere out so financially it makes sense, ggg would probably travel and want the exposure, and we have to remember.... Froch has said there would be more chance of him moving down than up if he was ever to bother, so its not some sort of fantasy matchup that we would be fools to even consider.
