It wont let me link to it but on the BBC website there is an interview with Froch in which he states its most likely next year. I thought people were aware of this but obviously not. This means Grove might have 1 or 2 fights prior but they wont be against top contenders so he doent risk his mandatory position.

Shame really as they are the fights he needs prior to Froch

Why does everybody suddenly think Groves is the reincarnation of Joe Louis, because he stopped Smith?
He can punch but I doubt he'd be the hardest puncher Froch has faced. At this stage of Groves' career/development he's essentially a poor man's Bute.

Groves and Bute have very little in common stylistically IMO

I agree this isn't a PPV fight however I thought Kessler was worthy of it. It also didn't disappoint either for £15.

    Very in-depth analysis there.

Bute & Groves are very different

I wouldnt say Groves has a chin like Amir Khan or David Price but history suggests he can go down if he gets caught clean. I would also agree that George rarely commited to any punches in the Degale fight and boxed beautifully on the backfoot to win a hard close one.
If i was handing Groves i personally would chase a fight with someone like Bika or Steiglitz then maybe defend againts Bute before meeting Froch although a fight with Bute risks a defeat and the possible pounds to be made from the Froch fight.
