I know mate, I was going to go as well, until I learned that the fight was being switched from Copenhagen.
The stupid thing is that if Mick had of taken a little financial hit and gone with Sky for the Taylor and Dirrell fights then he's probably be able get a damn site more out of Sky for the Kessler fight because of the interest generated.
Spot on. It's that whole 'calculated loss' idea. He might have lost a bit in the short term-though I'd be shocked if the revenue from the Taylor webstream and Dirrell on Primetime was much-and he'd have been able to market Froch as a PPV fighter for this fight. When the sky bandwagon gets in to gear, a'la Ricky Hatton and David Haye, you can make a fortune. Look how Haye came from nowhere when Setanta went broke to the biggest name in british boxing (unless Hatton comes back) in the space of a few weeks. Froch's recent achievements have probably been better, but nobody knows who he is, or cares about him and they won't while he's fighting on an obscure channel on sky that nobody knows of.
If this fight has went to Crimetime after the last debacle they presided over then its an absolute joke. For anyone who wasnt aware how much of a howling **** they made of Froch V Dirrell, the whole operation was an incompetent shambles. I honestly wouldnt trust them to walk my dog or clean my car without ****ing it up by managing to lose either of them or something like that. Do not give these incompetent amatuers a penny of your money, there will be plenty of alternative ways of watching. Here's how their last effort at showing a live fight went: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177134&highlight=primetime
Am I going to pay PPV for Wlad-Chambers? **** NO! This is all pretty gay, I'm sure Hennessy had an offer from ITV or someone for the Taylor or Dirrell fight but turned it down cos it wasn't enough. ****ing idiot. If he'd put that on ITV then Froch-Kessler would have been huge as Kessler is known to casual fans.
The early days of Setanta, boxing and football a plenty for a tenner a month, it just seems like a dream now. :?
Howling **** lol They did reet by me, streamed via net on PS3 Actually they skipped the whole of round 11 But considering what I expected, and I was bladdered, it seemed OK
"they did reet by me" Who the **** are you? Zak Dingle? The primetime coverage was a disgrace,a shambles, an absolute joke. Just because one country bumpkin out in the sticks somehow manages to see the fight doesnt mean they can be relied upon to provide a service to an entire country. You probably still point at aeroplanes (the big metal bird in the sky) when they pass over your village you slack-jawed yokel.
The payment issue/activation system has been done away with. You can pay through screen and activation is instant. Without telephone line needing to be connected. ^ Ok, thats better than that last bull**** subscription method.
Has it been confirmed that it is on Primetime - there's a couple of links but nothing official. To be honest I'd rather get this disappointment out of the way now rather than the usual waiting game, then be disappointed later
Spot on. Also the points about calculated loss are spot on. If Mick would've taken less money and got Carl's last few fights on Sky he'd be a superstar now.
