How would the great rivals fare against common opponents, acknowledged by many as their best individual wins ?

Most dominant wins, and surprising at the time wins maybe. But best wins in hindsight?

    Not even close.

They both smoke Bute or Lacy. Calzaghe UDs Bute and Froch UDs Lacy would be my class. Perhaps Froch gets the KO.

Joe beats Bute easy UD Froch would absolutely brutalize Lacy.

Calzaghe would stop Bute but the undefeated version of Lazy would have KO'ed Froch...

Calzaghe only ever won by decision!! Lol Froch would have KO'd Lacy and probably Calzaghe if they ever met!!

Calzaghe stops Bute or beats him via wide UD. Froch KO's Lacy.

I think the lacy that fought Calzaghe could have stopped Froch. Froch has been there for the taking many times. Lacy was a good finisher at that point and was on a real streak.

    Exactly.

Most people are forgetting Lacy was undefeated & was the favourite going into that fight.

Just a shame the 12 round beating he took. Calzaghe ruined him

jeff lacy would be the first name that pops into my head when it comes to a hype job, he was built up beating nobodies and got a killer reputation!! won teh vacant ibf title and his best wins before calzaghe was omar sheika and well past it robin reid. where in his resume was there a win that made anybody think he could beat calzaghe is beyond me.

I will be honest I was worried for Calzaghe that night. I thought lacy could have been all wrong for him. How wrong could I be. Froch on the other hand could have been different. Calzaghe doesn't lose a round to either looking at it now.
