Well, the point is they would buy the show and then try to sell ads based on expected draw. I won't pretend to know what kind of numbers that would involve. I wonder if that is part of the latest delay. Try and work up some numbers?

Don't get me wrong. I want to see this fight just so the damned bitching will stop if nothing else. ;)

Im British and i havent a ****in clue how ITV goes about putting the fights on:D.

I havent really got anyone to blame, coz im that ****in confused as to who offered who what, and where they offered it:nut

Di Bellas's offer seems dependant on "UK TV Money" making it a reasonable offer, and no-one knows where this cash is coming from.

Hennessy's offer seems dependant on Taylor coming to the UK and taking a smaller slice of the pie. Not happening. They say they would fight him in the States, but that's not actually the offer they've put in.

Think im just gonna blame HBO. They annoy me daily so **** it it's there fault.:smoke

Nobody said anything about PPV; network tv contracts pay money.

Taylor would win this one quite easily.

I'm not an expert on this, but here is my general understanding...

TV stations pay money for fights. Why do you think national and international broadcasts pay fighters so much better than non-tv fights, where fighters' purses are dependent on corporate sponsoring and the number of tickets sold at the gate?

Why do you think fighters want to get on HBO? It's not because they're in love with Jim Lampley. It's because HBO has probably the biggest boxing budget, and puts up the most money to get fights on the channel.

Networks like HBO, Showtime, and Setanta get this money from subscriptions.

It's my understanding Froch has a contract with ITV, an over-the-air station in the UK. ITV's budget is probably largely dependent on advertising revenue since it isn't a subscription service. Do you think a fighter would sign a contract with a tv network allowing them to broadcast his fights for free? Of course not. What would be the purpose of that? The network pays the fighter a portion of the ad revenue they will make for the fight. The $800K was DiBella's estimate of what ITV would pay Froch, in an interview on the site where boxing is confidential.

The highlighted bit was all i was after mate. Where Di Bella was getting the 800,000 figure from when Froch aint PPV. I know ITV paid him for his fights, I was under the impression it was for a certain number of fights and not a pay as you go set up.

Didnt know ITV would cut Carl/Mick in on what they recieved for the adverts. And to be honest im still sceptical.

Even if they did, how much from advertising can ITV possibly make at 2.00 in the morning. Doubtfull that Carl's cut would come anywhere near $800,000.

Unless Di Bella knows what Calzaghe got at that time of the morning against Lacy, and he is basing his figures on that. That was ITV and Showtime was it not?

Im begining to lose ****in interest to be honest.

honestly you have not got a clue what you are talking about .

firstly the fight takes place around 4 am on a sunday morning uk time.

ITV does not even run programmes at this time of morning 7 days a week

    it shows its teletext card

    This content is protected

it does not have advertising for a 3 am to 6 am tv slot and never does.

unless it is different in america and you have sports shows live at 4 am in the morning ????????? on NBC which is ITV`s equivelent.

$800,000 for a 4 am in the morning tv slot :huh

if the fight was promoted and was to take place in the uk and was built up with advertising and promo`s then a 2 am slot is possible,
but a fight in america in the graveyard shift when the tv station has shut down to 6 am in the morning , not going to happen.

now if dibella and showtime decided to start the show at 4 to 5 pm east coast time then that would be different.
