It said in the Sun today that Bernard Hopkins fancies a shot at Carl Froch's WBC title!!! Good news for Froch if it is. Another decent payday. You have to applaud the guy for patience and risk taking, the big fights are set to come his way!
BHop is a big name but he's no kind of draw to the fans (as all his fights are desperately dull) so there wouldn't be the big purse Carl's after, plus Froch would be in a no-win sitch; if he wins he beat an old geezer who lost to Calzaghe a few years ago and if he loses (which there'd be a hellishly good chance of) he'd be back to square one. There are a LOT of better fights out there.
Carl needs to stay wel clear of Hopkins..... it's a no win situation for him... he should get some serious money in his bank before he starts rolling the dice with his belt.... it took him long enough to get up there amongst them it would be foolish to put himself in a no win situation against a fighter that will spoil and try and old man him out of it..... IMO:think:think
As much as I like him, I wouldn't fancy Froch for this. I'd rather see him going for unification bouts, but if it would happen in England it would be great to see B-Hop in the flesh!
This is absolutely the worst fight out there for Froch. He will get little credit for beating such an old man and it adds nothing to his legacy. There is also the fact that Hopkins style is all wrong for Froch, Hopkins would pick Froch's pockets all night long and win a wide decision. It would be a clinic.
It would be interesting to see what happened. Might put more of a spin on the proposed Calzaghe fight of he were to cme trough.
