Froch jab is not very effective, plus he don't move very well and his defense is not very good. He only chance would be to knock Bute. Froch struggle with Taylor, Dirrell, and beaten by Kessler, pretty sure he will have big trouble with Bute too.

    Bute UD or late TKO.

Froch will almost always come up short in hypothetical match-ups because he looks so unrefined. He looks awkward and it's easy to imagine any fighter with speed/a good jab/decent footwork beating him handily. I'm sure that if Froch had never fought Pascal, Dirrell or even Taylor, the majority on here would say he would lose all three easily.

It doesn't tend to work out like that in the ring though - his jab, sneaky right-hand and unorthodox style all give his opponents a very hard time.

Stylistically, Bute would seem to be all wrong for Froch but it's worth remembering that Froch would be his best opponent by a considerable distance. I've learned not no count out Froch so easily.

With the talk of a Bute/Pavlik fight going on I've been taking a closer look at Bute than ever before. I like the guy, so I almost hate to bring it up, but he is a bit of a one-trick pony. I have not seen him do anything particularly impressive or dangerous with his right hand.

Bute beat Brinkley based on long standing, and well known weaknesses. Brinkley has never been able to take a good body shot.

Miranda and Andrade made really ridiculous mistakes right before Bute stopped them.

Nobody, and I mean NO FREAKIN' BODY, ever ran over Zuniga the way Bute did. However, that was almost certainly not the same Zuniga who went to war with David Lopez, Zertuche X 2, Pavlik, Santos, et, et.

As of right now I'm thinking Bute may be a tad over rated based on his undefeated record, and the fact that he looks really good against shop-worn B and C level opposition.

I definitely would not count Froch out of this one. It would probably be a very good fight. Froch would get out boxed, but I think he would keep it close enough to make a good fight, and may even pull off a late TKO.

Give yourself a couple of weeks, and you'll be convinced NO WAY Bute beats Froch, etc., etc., ...and ESPECIALLY Pavlik.

Hope Pavlik signs on the line that is dotted... but I'm not holding my breath.

Bute was getting slightly overrated and it took his performance against Brinkley to bring some people back to earth about him, and to have his haters underrate him even more.

If Bute had performed well against Brinkley, no way would he have had a chance of getting a good fight against anyone good next... so, who knows... maybe it's what he was missing: a poor performance.

It actually occured to me that Bute may have done a little sand bagging in the Brinkley fight.

The fact remains, Froch would be the best fighter Bute ever shared a ring with. However, the statement Froch made to his trainer during the Kessler fight would be more than a bit troubling in a Bute fight: "He's killin' me with those body shots!"

To me, a boxer needs to feel he might be in danger to perform at his peak, otherwise, even the most dedicated man, tend to be more confident and less productive. That being said, it would be about time Lucian faces real live opponents, at the risk of loosing the IBF strap.

At this stage, mandatory or not, you don't take the Bika and Mendy and Brinkley's of the world. If the Super **** don't come clean soon, stepping up to LHW will be the only way to face solid opposition, man, even KP is not a solid SMW.

I really miss the stress of a fight week, I didn't even went to the fight last Friday, preferring to rent it on PPV. If I was in control, I would send Dawson or Cloud a contract, and HBO would probably agree, and set the table for Bute vs Pascal for summer 2011. But hey, I'm not in charge!!!

I'm not sure about sandbagging, but I think he was looking for the highlight reel KO, whilst underrating his opponent. This showed not so much in his physical or tactical preparation, but in his mental preparation. His nervous system simply wasn't tuned in right on the night.

But like all real-deal champs, Bute shows up when it really counts. He would against Froch and he would against Pavlik, that's for sure!

Yeah, I agree. It made me sick to see a few of the more green Bute fans hype the Brinkley fight...

Bute better fight someone good next. At the very least, he needs to prove to the world that he is bending backwards to make a big fight next.

Otherwise, his best fans are going to care less about him and his career.
