My bad, mate. I hope there's no hard feelings, BA. I'm just out of my funk right now, i usually go on avatars and people constantly changing them is throwing me off like Mike Spinks' goofy style did many opponents. Thanks for clearing that up. I hope you noted the little hint of sarcasm in the post too. I don't think Carl "one foot on the banana peel" Froch will be fighting Lucian "Years in witness protection" Bute anytime soon anyway, so it's perhaps a mute point and we're barking up the wrong tree, playing fantasy football. I hope it does get signed and sealed though, because most of what we've got to look forward to has me circling up the dates on my Saturday calendar so I can really metro gay it up and plan a sushi dinner with the wifey along with that said movie Sisterhood of the Traveling Ya Ya Pants part 3 lol! 2012 is not looking stella. The boxing gods have drowned us out like Poseidon to Aquaman. It's not looking good. Maybe i'm just being a pessimistic sod. At least there will be a lot of FNF's to look forward and our favourite Teddy "Scarface" Atlas. Dropping some science. Btw i think Bute is the REAL DEAL and i would favour him to beat Ward and to trash Frochy Froch. But i see I'm all alone again in this building trying to fight off a Twister like Helen Hunt, lol. But I wouldn't be so certain of the weeble wobble you're talking about in picking Froch to stun and hurt Bute in the championship rounds. Okay, let's say it happens and he gets hurt even in the 7th as someone not name "Boxinganalyst" said - my dude Bute is so damn mean and crafty that he can go south of the border to buy himself time; he is a cerebral strategist and knows he won't be DQ'd as the future rain maker. But if we're talking about the chicken dance finish ( hello Zab), then that's another story! For me Froch has a better shot of getting the pencil out of his eyeball from The Joker, than this fight turning into a brawl and him getting the stoppage betwen the 10th and 12th.
Like most Froch fights, he's better keeping this on the outside. He's definitely got a chance at upsetting Bute and taking the play away from him that way. If I was his trainer though I'd ban talk of the first Andrade fight, Froch for starters is way better defensively than Andrade and doesn't have the pressure fighting game that he had at the time. Froch is alright at domestic level applying pressure and battering opponents into submission, but at world level he's no chance.
Btw, fellas does anyone else agree that Montreal and Quebec are the new swinging D of boxing going into this decade of raising our fraternity up from the ashes? They will not to be outdone by open air stadiums or 20 thausand of us in the O2 or MEN. I remember them hosting a baby Lemieux in basically the same forum, so what could they with a big Bute fight. I wish Lemieux was the truth and not just ham n eggs, he could've carried the sport forward. Canada has a plethora of indoor casinos but they chose to get the kids debut fights popping with an outdoor stadium on Friday nights no less. To borrow from Young Guns: "I'm a devil on the run, a 6 gun lover, a candle in the wind"!
I don't see how Froch troubles Bute greatly let alone beat him. From the outside Bute has incredibly well developed upper body movement for a man of his size. Serpentine. Froch is never going to be landing consistently with his slow ass Street Fighter punches. Bute just picks him off when he wants, and if Froch gets too desperate and tries to outmuscle him he could cop a similar type of fate to the unstopped at the time Librado Andrade in the rematch. Secondly Froch also has the problem that he's not effective as a pressure fighter. This is where people went wrong thinking he had any chance of beating Andre Ward or that he can do an Andrade, just because he had strength and heart. That doesn't mean he has the tools in his kitbag to conjure up pressure. Froch doesn't have a spectacularly high work-rate over 12 rounds. He has a good engine for his own style, and he does come on strong later on, but thats not the same as saying he can steadily grind down Bute over the course. He can't. He doesn't have the makeup, he can't shut off the ring with his footwork, all his effective punching needs extension. The bottom line is Froch is an outside fighter with unorthodox traits, he can never be multi-dimensional.
This. Although surely people are coming round to the idea Froch's power at world class can barely be described as anything more than solid at world class. I remember Tony Dodson saying Robin Reid was a bigger puncher than Froch, and I don't think anybody considers Robin a massive puncher in his own right.
Only by idiots. He aint a puncher. I am now struggling as to whether he is heavy handed at the top table.
I think Froch has enough power to hurt Bute but not to keep him down for the 11 count and Bute would take a UD.
Yep. Spot on D to the MACizzle. That's exactly what he would do. Sorry to say it sports fans, but Frochy Froch would look like a pork chop compared to a guy who is utterly dialed in. It's too late for him to stop with those wide telegraphed punches, plus out of the pocket rabbit punches will expose his body to this lion, imo. His best shot is a equilibrium right hand (in other words a punchers chance). And as the lads have already said, Frochy at the elite level is not exactly a g force killer like Hitman, who can create the wobble finish from one shot. Having said that, i don't wanna sound like i'm discrediting Froch as a club style fighter with only a haymaker's chance of winning. that dog won't hunt! He COULD cause Bute problems. I don't think there's so many intangibles and moving parts to this though. Bute wins due to getting off first, having the better footwork, straighter, sneakier punches and alround loosy gooseyness. Bute works that body and the respect factor keeps the Cobra from pressing the action. at that point, it will be a boxing match and the Romanian muffin can get off...his ring generalship is underrated and i wouldn't count out a stoppage, because he'll go to the body more than a one handed crafty little SOB from the O did. Frochy would get beat on the outside as Bute has a quicker punch release and he'd get countered like crazy if he came forward, play right into Mr Witness protections southpaw hands. I hope this fight is signed. And btw fellas, you have my word that I'll be right here in this building either talking nonsense or taking my licks the second this fight is over if it happens. Normally I would say "after the post fight interviews", but I would rather listen to my wife talk about shopping then listen to the vanilla personality that is Bute discuss what happened, with his creepy look and unnerving smile to the camera.
