and Let's remember when Froch continued to call out Calzaghe after he beat Hopkins but said he'd only fight him at a catch weight, like he had that bargaining power with Calzaghe.

Froch is a gob shite who lies and you could see how different his demeanour was when he joined Calzaghe on ring side. Calzaghe told him to his face that he thinks he'd have beaten him and Froch said something daft like "I'd only have beaten Calzaghe if I KO'd him."

I've just ****ing reposted what ****** said recently, I remember this whole thing at the time. Why would ****** still claim to this day that Froch ducked the fight after everything that has gone on??

and in that link I posted Hennesy even says that they would not except the fight with any future options in the contract, I remember Hennessy saying himself after Froch beat some Polish kid on ITV that it was a rematch clause. Believe what you want but for me it was not an unreasonable demand at all for a champion to make.

again for the third time and tell me why would ****** say this, this is only from 6 months ago and ****** and Calzaghe are not even on speaking terms now.

 

froch isn't on calzaghe's level, never was - and no, froch was never a 'champ' - people need to stop doing this..

 

When Hennessey himself confirms an offer was made, you can be absolutely sure that an offer was made :good

Hennessey mentions the offer made to them twice:

"There is little point in us discussing the offer until we know their position for certain," said Hennessy


"They have stated that the offer was their last, but I am confident that through on-going dialogue we could come to an arrangement that reflects the magnitude of this fight."


Then at the end Hennessey asks if Joe will defend his title on a Mick Hennessey show Carl had his chance, he should have taken that offer whatever it was!

It's no win for Joe to be honest, if Joe had beaten Froch and moved up to fight Hopkins, he would have been ripped for ducking Kessler. Joe beats the best SMW in Kessler, and gets ripped for not fighting Froch (despite making an offer!)

They offer to fight Hopkins in 2002, only for Hopkins to pull out. Joe gets ripped for fighting Hopkins when he was 43. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of fair criticisms to make at Joe, but in this case, not fighting Carl Froch is not a fair criticism whatsoever. Also for the record, Joe would beat Carl 10 out of 10 times, and I say that as a fan of both

 

why would he defend Calzaghe who has sued him? end of the day both promoters have come out and said an offer was made by ******, Froch was the one doing all of the talking so it is up to him to except the fight and back it up. Calzaghe was the champion he owed Froch nothing.

It's exactly the same as the Hopkins situation where people say Calzaghe ducked him in his prime when it's the other way around.

Completely agree with everything you have said. Joe could have done a lot more than he did in his career, perhaps gone to America earlier but financially it made no sense at the time and a lot of American fighters just didn't want to face him.

Froch was coming out on telly calling out Calling after he'd had about 12 fights, it was a joke and then when he got the offer after about 17-18 fights he didn't accept and now it's remembered as a duck.

It doesn't matter how often you post this, or the Jay Larkin quote about Hopkins, most people will forget.

Yeah but I got Mick Hennessy as well confirming an offer had been made, like knock out artist said Calzaghe had bigger fish to fry.

Froch wanted the fight, he had his chance and I don't see how the rematch clause was a bad thing if Froch was so confident, Froch was the one doing all the mouthing after all.

To make it clear as well ****** had an HBO contract for Calzaghe and sky box office too, why would they let Hennessy put the show on when he blatantly wouldn't get as much money for either fighter.

Froch has probably had higher purses at the time but I think ****** offered him about £100,000 which was the highest ever offer at the time.
