I know they are both quite ammicable these days even though i know behind closed doors Calzaghe still HATES him with a passion. I wonder what theyll talk about and how itll go. Its weird. Im looking forward to it as if they were gonna fight. Thoughts????

IIRC They were very respectful and full of praise for each other, liek you say though behind closed doors I do think Calzaghe doesn't like Froch all that much

As far as I was aware there wasn't much of a beef between the two at all, other than Calzaghe picking him to lose most of his fights - which many people do.

I think they're both jealous of each other - Froch is jealous of the acclaim that Calzaghe got from Joe Public for fighting at times less than stellar opposition, whereas Calzaghe is jealous of the respect that Froch has from the boxing fans, and perhaps regrets not taking more risks during his prime years.

Joe was a bit like Roy Jones - liked fighting at home, and his promoter made sure it was against people he knew he'd beat.... and only started taking risks at the tail end of his career.

Look at Roy now - as a shot fighter he's faced Johnson, Tarver, Calzaghe, Lacy (I know), Lebedev, and he's travelled abroad too.

Calzaghe would not of lost a round to Carl Froch.

 I think Calzaghe would win, something like 8-4 or 7-5 but to say Calzaghe would shut Froch out is ludicrous.

And Froch would beat up Calzaghe if he came out of retirement.

I think Froch would oblige Calzaghe.... which would ruin any chance he's got of winning.

To beat Calzaghe he'd have to box off the back foot and counter with the right hand, he's not disciplined enough to do that.

"I'd like to fight Calzaghe, probably next year after a couple of fights for the British title," said Froch.

"That would be an outrageous win because Calzaghe's a good fighter, a very strong fighter, he's been around a few years, and I just feel I've got exactly what you need to beat him." - Carl Froch at 13-0

WBO rankings at this point stood like:-

    Champ: Joe Calzaghe
    1. Dennis Inkin
    2. Lucian Bute
    3. Carl Froch

"Joe says he's looking to make the most money possible from his next fight,........ Given the options open to him, that must mean fighting me. It certainly wouldn't mean someone like Inkin. - Carl Froch.

All of this is pretty void.
As Froch was still pretty unknown in the UK till at least after the Pascal fight by that time Calzaghe had already retired.

When Froch was breaking through to world class, Calzaghe was going up against the likes of Kessler, Hopkins and Jones Jr.

Froch was just a few years too late and he's probably lucky he was because Calzaghe would have beat him wide on points in my opinion and i'm a massive Froch fan.

Very bad PR at the beginninig of his career. I truely believe it damaged his popularity in the eyes of the "now and again" boxing fan.Im sure it was stupid fat micks idea. The whole of Wales hates him. If i had a pound for every time ive got into arguements with part time welsh fans , over what Froch has gone onto achieve and how good he is , id be a lot better off. Does my head in really. I used to hate him myself because of it , but hes my favourite fighter now.
