I'd say Woodhall, Reid, younger Lacy, Brewer, Mitchell and Bika could have all had a decent chance of beating the Tayor which Froch beat- and at the same time I doubt they would have to rely on a last minute KO
despite froch having only one defence so far, his choice to join the super 6 is much more credible than any of clazaghe's opponents, and should he win his legacy will rightly be cemented whilst calzaghe's will always have a uestion mark hanging over his. i mean he actually fought ****ing manfredo (who is utter dog ****) in 2007 when froch would have made a much better opponent (though i won't say he would win, it would have at least have been 2 things; domestic and interesting).
As an American, I'm almost embarrassed on behalf of any American boxing "fan" for being ignorant enough to not give non-American boxers credit for winning while fighting mostly in or near their respective country, yet never have a problem with an American who fights mostly or completely in America. America isn't magic. Have you ever in your life heard a fight fan complain that all or most of a fighter's fights were in America? I haven't. Yet if it's Japan or Argentina or the UK or South Africa, it's like "Well, virtually everything you've done is meaningless. You've never been to Pennsylvania, Loser. You've never had a mega-money fight in Vegas. Guess you've never beaten anybody serious."
You mean Taylor won the round in which he was knocked down? Being consistent over a decade is far more difficult than one good fight. Not a legit question at all. Joe Frazier beat Ali and that was incredible, However a title reign like Holmes' is a more difficult accomplishment. maybe Holmes could have beaten one out of three against Ali, Frazier never could have defended his title 20 times. One great win might be a matter of mathcing up well with a great fighter's style. Beaten everyone for a decade means you always find a way to win, against a huge variety of styles.
This was after Froch beating the corpse of Robin Reid? Manfredo was an opponent for the benefit of HBO and getting Calzaghe American exposure for a future fight against then middleweight champion Taylor, as you probably know. Froch would have provided no such thing. If Calzaghe had wanted to **** off HBO and fight someone else, then his IBF mandatory Stieglitz would have been the obvious choice. Froch wasn't even in the picture in anyone's mind but his own.
My point was not regarding this issue: it is the fact the Froch defended his WBC title on foreign soil in his FIRST defence against a world class operator. nothing more, nothing less.
If you think Robin Reid, Ritchie Woodhall, Byron Mitchell and Charles Brewer were "easy" defences then you dont have a ****ing clue. All world champions. Prime Robin Reid would beat Jermain Taylor IMO. Hell Omar Sheika has a win over Glen Johnson. So much is made of Calzaghe's defences because they werent big name fighters, but there were champions and good ones at that.
Dude, Jeff Lacy put Jermain Taylor on the floor in round 7. And the prime Robin Reid that Calzaghe fought would probably beat Jermain Taylor.
The blown up middleweight who's confidence is lacking at the moment... no I like taylor but facts are facts above 160 pounds hes 1-2, correct me if im wrong but that isnt good form
I'm pretty sure if Froch fought all the same fighters, he would have dropped his title at one time or another.
