Froch vs Calzaghe

Because Taylor had Froch on ***** street several times. Calzaghe is naturally bigger, has a better knock out percentage and has campaigned his entire career at a higher weight. Plus Froch is so easy to hit that it's not as if it would be a one off opportunity.

 

i agree with the last part, but the way he telegraphs his shots and the speed at which he throws them would not allow him to ever put down calzaghe. he would need some kind of distance as well, which calzaghe wouldn't give him. he also starts too slowly.

If Froch could beat kessler,then I'd think Joe would fight him.

 

Lets compare resumes at this stage.....

Joe was WBO champion. A vacant title he had won with a victory over former WBO champion Chris Eubank.... Eubank had been preparing for a light heavyweight fight with Mark Prince on the same card having blamed his consecutive losses to Steve Collins on making the Super Middleweight limit. His struggles making the weight further evidanced by a subsequent move to Cruiserweight - completely bypassing thr light heavy limit. The win was a clear one on points. Eubank took two counts but badly shook Calzaghe in the last. Calzaghe impressed with an unusually disciplined performance against no-mark Branco Sobot then laboured to a horrible 10 round victory over ancient Juan Carlos Giminez. Sobot had recently being beaten by vulnerable Hascine Cherifi and Giminez had a massively unimpressive run in and run out... These were very much waste of time defences in Cardiff.

Prior to the title win over Eubank, Calzaghe had built an impressive statistical record of 22-0 (21 BIG KO"S).... Impressive record on the face of it but who did he beat? Trevor Ambrose,stopped in two, was ok. He had famously ended the career of Errol Christie... Calzaghe took him on in bout number 8. Sadly he had suffered a bit of a dip in form by the time he fought Calzaghe... 11 losses out of 13 to be exact... Bobbi Joe Edwards, the big Mancunian cruiser took him the distance.. He was on a six fight losing streak. He beat decent Stephen Wilson for the British title in an unimpressive performance, no great form from Wilson but having seen him- he was a tidy boxer. The UK scene domestically was empty at the time... Prospects aside it was a landscape littered with journeyman. About the most impressive 'test' came against the then unbeaten Mark Delaney. Delaney was 21-0 (15KO's). He had mixed at a similarly mediocre level to JCs but had been less impressive labouring t a handful of victories especially in his last fight against Welshman Darron Griffiths- Calzaghe dismantled him in a one sided beat down. Impressive at the time, but Delaneys subsequent losses to Mark Baker and Neil Simpson perhaps put the win into context... or maybe Calzaghe 'ruined' him just like Lacy. Finally we have Luciano Torres who brought a fabulous 44-2 (30Ko) record to the ring.... His record remains one of the most deceptive indicators of talent in the history of queensbury boxing.... He was SHITE.... beyond SHITE.... That secured Joe's high rating with the WBO..... Perhaps his management team swapped tips with Warren on how to build unbeaten runs.

Froch is the WBC champion.... A vacant title won against a fellow unbeaten title challenger in UK fight of the year 2008. Frochs' record is a whos who of the domestic Super Middle scene. He was takin the distance by serial journeyman Paul Bonson but then rattled off stoppages over the likes of Micheal Monaghan, former top class amateur Alan Page, Damon Hague, world rated Henry Porras in the states, Reuben Groenawald, Brian magee, Tony Dodson and Robin Reid... He also outscored the much avoided Mathew Barney who had beaten Tony Oakey and Dean Francis. In his first defence he beat the former undisputed Middleweight champion of the world Jermain Taylor.... He did this by KO in his opponents back yard....

I don't think either has the power to put the other down for a count of 10, therefore Calzaghe just outworks Froch over 12. 8-4 thereabouts.

Hatton gets loads of **** for fighting lesser fighters in the WBU days.... but are Tackie and Phillips (the best two IMO) that much worse than Reid and Woodhall?

Tackie had just taken Tszyu the distance and not long ago took Holt to a MD..... Phillips beat Kelson Pinto shortly afterwards.

Reid did nothing of note post-Calzaghe, barring the Ottke shambles.... Woodhall retired to the comm box.

I deal with facts, you asked a question so I answered it. Jones is a bigger puncher than Taylor with faster hands. Taylor hurt Froch several times therefore Enzo C's suggestion that Froch would be troubled by Jones is entirely valid,
