I wonder how Junior Witter feels fighting on the undercard of a title eliminator? I really like Froch as a fighter, and when the subject isn't 'Joe Calzaghe.......' he comes across as an intelligent, if rather opinionated, individual. The statement about treating the contest as a title fight rather than eliminator is rather foolish - this is not an interim matchup, therefore he has no claim to being a champion. Calzaghe hasn't indicated that he is definitely giving up supermiddle and has talked of a fight with Pavlik, who is a WBC middleweight champ - so no doubt Mr Sulaiman will be in a pickle very shortly if Joe opts for Pavlik! Rather like Sports Network with the WBO, Hennessy seems obsessed with the WBC - if Froch wins there will be no unification matches, it will be mandatories all the way ala Witter. All this about most prestigious etc, total bollocks. The fighter makes the belt for me. Granted, the green belt looks better, only because a WBO belt looks crap, even next to a WBU one!
Carl Froch hasn't done anything to deserve a shot at Joe. The biggest name on his record is Robin Reid and if anyone saw that fight i think its clear that Reid had nothing left. Besides that he's beaten no one.
It was because of Froch that Bhops by-passed the SMW division. Apparently years ago Roy Jones Junior saw a clip of Froch and he soon jumped up to LHW and then HW. Everyone is scared of Froch.
carl, or whatever hennesey representative who stated this thread please get the fuk off our ESB forums thanks
UZI thats exactly what i thought when i looked at his record the only person i considered a top fighter on his record was reid where and how did fotch get no1 contender??? :huh :huh did i miss something while froch was fighting in nottingham in front of his chav mates and family??? did he beat anyone ranked in the top 5 for WBC, WBO, IBF etc??
To deserve a shot at Joe nowadays, you need to have at least been a runner-up on 'The Contender'. Froch has never even been on the 'The Contender'.
I must admit that Froch would have given Calzaghe a much sterner test than Manfredo The Great! And also, with Froch being a rather honest chap, perhaps when beaten he would have the guts to admit it, instead of squealing like a little *****.
