Froch vs Dirrell controversy thread

Here's the difference, Fitz...I don't give either fighter credit for the so called fight on Saturday. I simply scored the fight like two of the judges: in favor of Froch.

In my mind, did either fighter do enough to stake a claim in this tournament? No

In my mind, could the fight be interpreted in favor of the loser? Yes

In my mind, was this fight worthy of debate? No

Honestly Fitz, your efforts would be better served focusing on a fight that truly merits discussion, like the pac/Cotto fight...like the upcoming Kessler/Ward fight...like any other fight held this year that wasn't the stinkfest involving Dirrell and Froch.

This discussion is undeniably pathetic because both fighters stunk out the arena.

You've failed again I'm afraid, I had Dirrell winning by 2 points. My only 'issue' at the moment is why everyone with an opinion on this fight feels the need to start yet another thread in order to express it.

People are scared their posts will get ignored in existing threads so they are starting new theads as if they are offering some new, profound insight into the fight whereas all they are really doing is posting the same old stuff time after time.

i know no-one asked for them but i thought id throw my two cents in anyway!

i hav watched a LOT of boxing. and i while watching direll vs froch live, for the first six rounds direll was PISSING ME OFF with his stupid clinching and running and getting on his knees. it annoyed the HELL out of me. despite that, i DIDNT see froch connecting a great deal. i gave most of the first 6 rounds to direll!

Then rounds 7,8 i thought froch came back well. i actually had it at 4-4 going into the ninth. However with the way direll fought in the last 4 rounds, i gained a lot of respect coz he CAN fight. hes very good at making his opponent miss, and in the later rounds he was actually connecting with froch a lot! i scored the fight for direll by two rounds in the end!

I was shocked when froch got the decision
HOWEVER looking back and reading everything thats being written online i can KIND of see how the judges came to this.

If the judges got as annoyed as i did at dirells boxing in the first 6 rounds, and scored it purely on agression they may have given froch the early rounds. they may also have given froch the final round. add that to the deduction to direll i can see how they got to their scoring. But even so, 115-112 seems way off.

in MY opinion direll did enough to win the fight. but at the end of the day he should not have given the judges any reason whatsoever to score the fight against him! he should have complained less and throw some punches in the first 6 rounds, like he did at the end, insted of running!
of course hes fighting in Nottingham and he should have done everything he possibly could to give the judges no excuses whatsoever. however i do think he will learn from this and i do feel he could beat abraham!

i also back him to get to the semi finals and defeat froch if they met again

 

i agree with you, dirrell was boring the **** out of me, but he was winning the rounds.. i had it a draw

 

it still doesn't take away from dirrell getting robbed...not every fight is pleasing to watch but dirrell (as the poll states bigtime) won that fight
