It is in my opinion, I had Dirrell winning the fight 8-4 or 9-3 If I remember right, I just saw someone compliment Froch as one of the greatest and this fight came to mind when it comes to the overrated Froch.
This one was way worse to be honest. This content is protected And it was in favor of a way worse guy.
No, and I was actually a Dirrell fan at that point in time since I have family in Grand Rapids. I scored it for him 7-5, but that was at home. He fought an idiotic fight for a visiting fighter to fight, which is one of my cardinal sins of boxing. I have no patience or sympathy for people who have situational awareness as poor as Dirrell's team did that night. You know damn well where you're fighting at. You're not even the thousandth guy who's dealt with "hometown judging", and you've known for weeks you'd be fighting in his hometown. Adjust as necessary, throw more punches, or else be happy being the martyr who gave the fight away by not being more active. You can't rob someone of something they give away on a silver friggin' platter.
Aside from spotty activity, his performance was borderline ridiculous in its tentativeness. His authority was shaky even in some of his clearly successful scoring rounds. A lot of solid analysts saw it as a close fight that could've been scored either way. I feel that those calling it a robbery tend to overrate or overscore Dirrell's work in the fight. He was more eye-catching, but spotty (as you said), and Froch's jab was pretty consistent.
I'm a massive Froch fan. Dirrell had the ability to beat Froch that night, but he lost fair and square. And he only has himself to blame. Froch didn't win that fight. Dirrell lost it by being passive.
Well, he lacked adventure and confidence for a reason. I'd imagine he sensed that attempting to be more assertive would cause bad things to happen to him.
