How bad a decision does everyone really think it was? I thought the fight could have gone either way but in the only 2 fight reports I read on the match, (in Boxing News and The Ring) both had Froch a close winner. Maybe it wasnt a robbery after all and more of just a close bout where patriotism is blinding opinions. What you think?
Ofcourse it wasn't really a robbery. But if patriotism wasn't blinding opinions, something else would be doing it, believe that lol. There aren't an abundance of neutral, clear-seeing opinions available in this game brother. As for your assesment of the fight, i totally agree. I saw Dirrell as a close winner, but it all depends on what you like. Don't expect the majority of opinions on this subject to be like that, though
It was a fight that didn't really deserve a winner. Dirrell showed flashes of brilliance that suggest he could have won the fight clearly if he had committed to winning. Froch showed determination but landed very little in terms of clean punches. The decision was bad in my opinion, but understandable.
Dirrell would have won the fight except for the point deduction and the fact he didnt throw enuff. He lost rounds because it looked like froch was forcing the fight as Dirrell was running around the ring and not punching enuff. I thought Dirrell should have gotten the win but i can understand how he didnt
The Ring article states unequivocally that Dirrell got robbed. No ifs ands or buts. However, on fight night The Ring had it for Froch. I'm not sure what sense that makes, but I guess that's boxing in a nutshell.
I agree. Although I do think the decision went in Froch's favor more as a result of the disdain for Dirrell's fight tactics as opposed to anything Froch did in the fight. Dirrell landed the better punches despite his tactics, but most found them too distasteful. But I found the point deduction against Dirrell strange. I found it just a bit odd that with all the questionable actions by the fighters during the fight, that the ref decided at that time to deduct a point. After all the holding and falling by Dirrell and the rabbit punching and a blatant body slam by Froch, that that deserved a point?
I beleive Dirrell won but in a championship fight you must take it from the champ ..Froch has been very lucky and his luck is going to run out against the Viking Warrior ..
got the Ring mag info on Jan 2010 issue under feature (semi super start to super six) starts on page 34. Says on page 39 The Ring made it 114-113 for Froch
yep, it was a terrible fight to watch but dirrel made it that way. no way dirrel did enough to take someones belt on that shameful performance.
Alright y'all...I'm gonna take one for the team and watch the whole fight again right now to see how I score it. Maybe I'm just a masochist, but at least I'm helping you guys out. I had it for 115-112 Dirrell last time, with three rounds questionable (so a draw would have been reasonable to me). Heeeere goes...
