This fight is scheduled for March 15. I assume this is an elimination bout for the right to fight Calzaghe? If JC moves up, like it seems he would, would the winner than become the belt holder? I cant find much info on this fight. Anyone with some insight please post. THANKS!
It does seem like the winner of that fight will be recognized as the WBC champ once Calzaghe officially moves up..
Thanks! That answers some of it. Now if Calzaghe moves up, I can only imagine the WBC is not just gonna hand over the belt. They are greedy and will want to make money. I would guess they would have this winner fight the next highest available for the vacant belt. This, of course, is what got me interested since that fighter will probably be the winner of Miranda vs Pascal. So before the end of the year we may see these two winners fight for the belt. Realistic, no?
I don't think so. Inkin is the WBC interim champion and Froch is the number 1 rated challenger by the WBC. Joe will offiically vacate on Tuesday when he announces his fight with Hopkins so the Inkin vs Froch fight in March will be for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight championship of the world. Considering Kessler is rated number 3 and is a former WBC champion at this weight, I would assume Miranda would have to get above Mikkel to get a shot... good luck with that! lol
Mikkel may be headed toward the WBO. Eventhough JC is announcing his fight at the higher weight class, it does not mean he needs to vacate the belts. He has every right to wait until after his fight with Hopkins and then decide. Win or lose he can come back to 168lbs and defend his belts. Or at that time he can decide to stay at 175lbs. I have a feeling we will not know for sure what JC is going to do for some time.
