Extremely hypothetical discussion I know but if Froch fought Kessler now how would it pan out? I can imagine Kessler teeing off on Froch with his laser guided 1-2 combos all night. The way Froch carries his left hand low and his somewhat cumbersome footwork when approaching also leaves him open to Kessler's uppercut which had Calzaghe seriously flustered a couple of times. Kessler did say Calzaghe's body punching hurt him though and Froch works the body well. He also has more raw power than Calzaghe what with Joe's brittle hands these days. Would anybody back Froch to win?
An interesting fight. Froch has a good chin and would stand up to Kessler's punches. This will almost certainly go the distance and I see Kessler winning a close but clear points victory because Froch will be a tad too slow to get out of the way. Kessler won't dominate but Froch won't be able to establish any kind of rhythm. I get the impression that both are a little too tentative to really impose themselves on the other.
i think due to over rating himself, froch gets under rated by us. we will see how good he is agaisnt Inkin his first world level opponent
I think apart from 1punch power Kessler beats Froch in everyway, to be honest i hate how Froch fights. Its like he is so open and sometimes sloppy that by now he should have been defeated but yet he's not! Like the last poster said we will see how Froch will progress on how he handles Inkin, if he does? If they fought tomorrow id go with Kessler late stoppage/ud
Let's assume Carl has not just a one-punch KO but also an iron chin. Still, his punch would only KO Kessler if Kessler had less than a very good chin, I think. Does he? I don't see any indication he does. Bodyshot? Well, it's not that easy to hit Kessler to the body either. Does it not take more than a one-punch KO and an iron chin to beat an elite fighter like Kessler? I think so! Even if we assume that despite Froch's poor defence, relatively poor footwork and sluggishness he doesn't get TKO'ed (and I think he would), there must be a small chance indeed that he wouldn't lose a very wide decision. Only way I can see this being close is if Froch KD's Kessler a couple of times. But if he can KD him, why cannot he stop him? So either it's Froch by KO, or it's a certain victory for Kessler. And let's face it, if Froch could KO Kessler, he would probably KO Calzaghe too. In other words, he would be one of the best ever. Is he? I am inclined to side with Calzaghe on this and say, with him, that Froch's defence is much to loose not to be punished by a good world-class boxer with good chin. ...And Kessler is better than that.
I would keep Froch far away from Kessler if were Kesslers manager. Somehow I feel that Froch is the wrong fighter for Kessler. Woller (Denmark)
Personally I think Kessler trumps Froch in every way. Carl Froch hasnt yet lived up to any of his boasts. Inkin is a good fight but cant help but think that is the type of step he should have taken a year or 2 ago. I think he can beat Denis inkin, but I dont think it will be comfortable I think he'll get a close decision win. When Calzaghe beat Kessler, he done it with speedy cominations and workrate. When I watch Froch I dont think '**** that guys quick', or '**** that boy can hit!' I think Kessler quicker than him, hits the same if not harder and has a much better defence. Kessler UD...
I've only seen Froch's fight with Reid and he didn't impress me at all. Pretty sloppy fight, and I'd imagine Froch would get eaten alive by Kessler.
