ward has great defense even in close distance, and in fact prefers to fight close...he's not the typical slick boxer who keeps distance, he will get on the inside and mug you i.e. bhop...thats why i think ward would be an interesting fight vs. KOvalev....ward would be in range to be hit all night, but can kovalev land enough to put his lights out?

I figured this thread would end up being about Ward. Bad enough he ruins fights with his kirty, boring, ugly style. Now he is ruining threads about exciting fighters.

Kovalev was cut by the only solid jab Cleverly landed 4/5 rounds with Froch and its stopped on cuts Froch jab is under rated

1st it was matthyse who was unbeatable and avoided by everyone, at least he had a few decent names on his record, now it seems to be golovkin and kovalev who between them have maybe a couple of solid wins, nothing on their records suggest they would beat the elite of their divisions just as nothing suggested that matthyse would beat a wc fighter in garcia by brutal ko,

  7. Matthysse is a strong puncher and bum without any decent skills .. GGG and Kovalev are real boxers, old European boxing school, the US's and Brits boxing kryptonite. Stop hating and deal with it. Like the Klitschkos and European Crusiers cleaned the divisions of the big boys, Kovalev and GGG will clean the rest.

thats going too far in the other direction, hes by no means a bum but the talk about him beforehand about decapitating garcia was laughable, i would like see the other two in with some world class operators on a regular basis before they are annointed as great destroyers

Was a head clash. Bad call from ref and commentary team went along with it. Watch replay. 2.19 left of round 2. Quick clash, easy to miss. K has back to camera but reaches up to right eye immediately. Wipes at it a coupla of times and glances at his glove about 2.10 and the commentators notice a few seconds later after a Clev jab.

I was gonna mention this about Ward. That's how I see him fighting Kovalev. I've noticed Kovalev likes to attack on the outside than to close inside fighting. But that could be down to not being able to get close to his opponents.

Just when you thought Froch is coming to retirement, or only has Ward on his horizons there's the potential matchups with GGG and Kovalev. If only Froch was a few years younger, fight fans would've been treated to much more.

Fight would have to be 175, Kovalev looks like a future cruiserweight especially with his power. Froch will not trade, definitely not in the first half of the fight. He will try box like he did against Johnson and Abraham. The fight just depends on the unknown, mainly whether Kovalev can maintain the attack in the 2nd half of the fight. The ref calling it off whilst Froch is still standing is how I see it probably ends.

Amazing how people here hype a guys so hard whos best win is Nathan Cleverly

Kovalevs got serious power but he's one dimensional, walks at you in straight lines telegraphing big slow shots, he can only fight coming forward looks very uncomfortable on the backfoot

    Froch stops him

cleverly is ****, why is he a benchmark for taking on froch?

cleverly was full of **** too, saying froch and co were ducking him when he wasn't fit to face a world level opponent.

well that's true to an extent except that prime froch would have poleaxed postprime Calzaghe, because Calzaghe doesn't want tough fights.
