he was very sloppy in the froch fight. and its tough to look sloppy against froch when he stands right there just begging to be hit with what used to be your bread and butter but kessler never threw it. that's all kelly throws
No actually, Froch stayed on the backfoot and used the jab very well to keep the one two combinations of Kessler away. He had longer reach, and Kessler had trouble get some space to land his combinations, he still should have landed more than he did though, but as we both agreed on, Kessler is not the same.
we also agree froch actually looked good...or at least was effective...fighting off his backfoot and using his reach. but he was still holding hands low and throwing his jab from a very low angle which kessler could have taken advantage of if he just woulda found that straight combo he used to throw so well. but yes...froch did look good when he actually boxed. and i think froch was right in his own self critique after the fight. he would fight off the backfoot, kessler would loop a sloppy shot in and carl would pounce on him but never pressed the attack. he could have beaten kessler if he would have just stepped on the gas at times.
Yeah he could definately win, if there was a time Froch could beat Kessler it should have happened when they fought. Kessler wasnt at his best, and Froch was scared of getting countered. But what a fight that was, fight of the year so far.
yes its a shame there had to be a winner. both guys could have done more technically but both of them showed a tremendous amount of heart and courage. i expected that from froch but i was happy to see kessler was still willing to stand there like a man and trade in a war down the stretch. very very entertaining i do worry about those cuts on mikkel. seems like those may remain an issue as long as he fights.
Yeah that cut looked horrible, he should definately find a way to not get into wars like that again or else he might not be able to go the distance.
Pavlik could very well pull it off. Froch is not to underestimate though, he can be pretty effective from long distance (underrated skill of his) and how Kelly would react to the distance hooks and uppercuts is az important question. But Froch is much more stationary than master Hopkins or Martinez who were able to avoid Kelly's jab&right and limit his output in the process. I can see Kelly being busy and if he can find target for his right, he can inflict serious damage on the Cobra. It is a very interesting fight because both guys are regarded as somewhat limited warriors while in reality both have some skills not being credited for based on performances vs. the wrong style. If Froch falls out, I'd love to see this.
Froch UD, about 8-4 maybe 7-5 An interesting side question would be, where does this fight take place? England or the US?
Im not really sure, but it could be though. As far as I remember the headbutts from the Ward fight had him go home with like three cuts, so it is possible it is one of them that opened up.
I dont like Froch as a fighter, awkward, slow and ugly style. Having said that, you cant write him off because of his **** skills. He is rangy and awkward, a nightmare to fight really. Not to mention very strong, powerful and tough. I actually think he could beat Kelly, who is no wizard, on the back foot easily. He looks very awkward doing it, but he has success with that long jab of his. Froch wins this every time, and can win in a number of ways as well.
Gotta go for Froch by ud but it would be highly competitive. Just think KP won't be able to bully him. Also Froch is an awkward ****er who must be a nightmare for a conventional fighter like Pavlik to face. Like Haye I think Froch could win this off the back or front foot.
Froch destroys Pavlik. I'd bet all my future earnings on it. Pavlik won because he was bigger and stronger than his opponents in a morbidly weak division. He'll be the smaller man at 168. Plus, Froch is a more skilled boxer, who fights in an unorthodox style and has good power and a decent chin. Pavlik's done.
