The point I have been trying, not to succesfully, to get across to people is that there was more to that situation than just the knockdown. BEFORE the knockdown JT battered Froch around the ring at will. He hit him with right hands that put him off balance and out of postiion SEVERAL times. What happens when Abraham, Kessler, Andrade, Pavlik, or Bute do that to an opponent? None of those guys would have let Froch out of the 3rd round. If he did manage to survive the round, he'd be hurt bad enough that the fight would be over soon after.
i started wearing a path around the house pacing after that i'm terrible at watching these things in public
I know McKraken did an excellent job of calming Froch down after the KD. Carl was freaked, but McKraken talked him right down. At least it seemed that way. And by the way, I had no idea you are British.
I thought it looked like Taylor dramatically reduced his workrate in the final third of the fight. That gave Froch the chance to come back, and he didnt need any invitation to take it. He was ice cool in the way he did it too - he picked his shots instead of panicking and throwing aimlessly even though he was seriously running out of time. If Taylor had continued - or had been able to continue - to be so agressive i doubt Froch would have been able to pull the late KO out of the bag. The fight went pretty much how i predicted, and i think most people who had seen both guys fight a few times before were not suprised that Froch got the late KO. Plenty of people who knew nothing about Froch were too quick to write him off, and predict an easy win for Taylor. Now Taylor got his boots smoked, the same guys who were bigging him up are running him down.
