I don't know how the non-english fight fans saw this, but for me this summed up everything i love about boxing. i had froch down by 8 rounds, he really needed the ko in my eyes, taylor was gassing but he still threw with bad intentions. then frochs pressure started to tell, he kncked him down, only 30 seconds left, he showed great conditioning and threw about 30 unanswered punches forcing the ref to end it. what a great night this was, ye he looked crap in the first 6 rounds, but thats what bein a champ is all about, winning against the odds. just to relive the final round; [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYcGdQdoUbc&feature=related[/ame]
Yeah they replayed it yesterday night on Showtime and I noticed that in the later rounds Taylor did clinch but was getting more and more fearful that the end was near. I think he toke Froch for granted a little."Carl who?". That fight just proves more and more Froch will force the fight if it's not going his way and in order to beat him ya gotta kill him.
That was a good fight no doubt...Froch showed how big his heart was that night...I was amazed on how Froch was able to wether the storm and pull of an unpredictable KO. Taylor on the other hand should have been a little more cautious...Taylor was gassed but that still doesnt erase the fact that he gave the fight away when he didnt clinch or take a knee...You dont let your opposing opponent tee off on you if you tired...Thats kinda dumb IMO! None the less it was a damn good fight!
ye the fight was stopped at 14 seconds, had taylor took a knee he'd have won, but still if you got a big 6 foot guy pounding your face, guess you dont got much time to think straight lol
Thats very true...Gotta give props to Froch as well for not giving up...You could see that he wanted it in his eyes!:good
It was a great fight, and Froch showed tremendous heart in coming back with a stoppage in the dying seconds. I suppose he also deserves credit for going to the US for his first defence of his title. But with that said, when looking back at this fight, I see it more as Taylor giving it away as oppose to Froch doing the extraordinary. He was controlling the large bulk of the fight, and it was pretty dissappointing of him to throw it all away like that. Those losses against Pavlik finished him as a fighter
its hard to beat a guy that thinks he's unbeatable, not talking arrogance, im talkin pure belief. froch has the heart to say "no matter who i go in with, he cant handle my power" you only beat froch in two ways, knocking him out, or running like a *****
Thats exactly how I saw it myself...Dont get me wrong, Froch deserves credit but one cant forget how Taylor was handing Froch his ass throught the fight.
Froch might not be everybodys cup of tea, but he is certainly exciting! The guy is a beast who has no idea when he is beaten!
Every time I think of that fight now, it just occurs to me how gutting it must be for Jermain. He was within spitting distance of perhaps a Comeback of The Year victory over an undefeated world titlist. A dominant manhandling of Lacy followed by what would have been a comfortable MD (ought to have been a comfortable UD) had it finished - following the pair of crushing losses to Pavlik, that would have been one of the more dramatic reversals of fortune in the sport's recent history. Good win for Froch. Terrible, terrible loss for Taylor.
Great fight very underrated. I became a froch fan after that fight. I loved his never say die attitude. Even after he was dropped he remained calm and went back to work. At the same time you had to feel for Taylor who in his own right is a warrior. He came to fight and never backed down.
