It doesnt really matter if he's the belt holder, he is a paper champion who is a nobody in america, and an unknown fighter isnt gonna get paid $1m.

My view of the situation may be simplistic, but it's 100% correct. It's actually a very simple situation.

And I do 'bet the fight won't come off at all'. I've been predicting that since last summer (when people were lining up to tell me how wrong I was) for exactly the reasons that you're now telling me it won't come off. Dibella never had any intention of letting Taylor near Froch, for whatever reason. This is all window dressing now so Taylor's fanbase can be told that they tried to make the title fight, but it couldn't be done for 'financial reasons'. But nevermind, here's Taylor v Lacy 2: the rematch they said surely no-one would make!

Well, the truth of the situation seems to be this: Taylor has a March TV date with Showtime and intends to keep it. Offer was made to Froch. If he doesn't take it, Edison Miranda will.

I'd rather see Edison fight Froch, but that isn't my call to make. :bart

Great, Taylor in another "Who cares" matchup with a domestic operator who got beat like a ginger step child last time he stepped up against a top fighter. I'm sure a few HBO puppets who think a few exciting KOs of C+ fighters makes Miranda a top class fighter will watch it, but in the scheme of things this fight means nothing.

Precisely. You have to look at the positions of the two camps. If they can't reach agreement (and it doesn't look like they're going to) the fight goes to purse bids with a default 70-30 split. If I'm Froch's camp, I'm thinking well, it's a big risk putting him in against a proven fighter who will be favoured to beat him, in that guy's home country (as it doesn't look like JT will get out of his comfort zone and get his passport out) with his ref. It is very logical that they are going to want the maximum rewards for this, and that means the champ's share of the purse. If Taylor walks away I doubt they'd be heartbroken, Froch avoids a very tough mandatory and they can make some money for a couple of fights against easier opposition.

From Taylor's perspective, whilst he needs to fight somebody with a belt, Froch is a horrible risk-reward fight. He isn't known in the U.S. and won't bring big money or recognition besides the WBC belt (especially if Taylor takes the short end) but might be a little too dangerous for their own good, especially with his basic, aggressive style and Taylor's own lack of power coupled with the fact he has been KTFO before. This is a bad risk-reward fight for them and if it went down the pan at least they could say that the two parties couldn't reach financial terms.

Also, Taylor could be 'playing' Miranda to get Froch to sign.

That's not how it works. Boxing is business, the money fighters get out is measured by what the fight is worth (hence why DLH is loaded, like him or lump him people pay to watch him). Froch-Taylor is much lower budget and the more Froch gets, the less Taylor's share is going to be. It thus becomes a matter of how much or how little each party is willing to accept. IMHO neither party will give enough ground to make this fight viable. Taylor will then probably go and fight an eliminator against Jaidon Codrington or someone!

How the hell Froch is worth 1 millions. So you only have to beat the limited Jean Pascal and after that you can ask one million dollars per fight...:nono I think Froch will stay in the UK for a long time if he continue to overprice himself.

You are still putting the burden on Taylor, when a similar argument could be made for Froch.

As TKO pointed out, neither fighter seems willing to budge on how big a purse they'll accept.

So you can keep accusing DiBella of having no intention of making this fight, but Hennessy is in the same boat.

Once again you seem to be failing to understand the nature of a mandatory title defence. If Froch pulls out of the process then he will be stripped of the title belt. Given how long it has taken him to win it, and the fact that it is the only real leverage he has in securing fights in the division, I really don't see that happening. Do you?

No. But he is over estimating what it means to Taylor. It seems Taylor has made his offer and will move on if it isn't accepted.
