Kessler as of the Perdomo and Ward fight was slow, uncoordinated, not so powerful or explosive, and had not much of imagination to come with something creative at any point of the two fights. If you have watched any other fight of him 3 years before, he was a totally different fighter. So it's bull**** that Kessler "never was anything different". Ward was doing well, but it was Kessler who "did" something that made it pan out like this - nothing. He stood there throwing a meager jab to the body, then tried some half-hearted 1-2s, and never jumped on Ward when he had the opening. Does anyone seriously think this was the guy who beat up Mundine, Beyer, Lucas and Andrade with ease ? The people who claim that never watched any of those fights.

I am confident the Kessler of old would have had a field day with Froch until that ones head finally gives up, but the current Kessler is a big question mark. He may end up getting victimized by Froch with ease, deliver a dull fight win or lose, or spark Froch digging deep at some point of the fight.

You can possibly say that when you see him sparring short before fight night with someone like Karo Murat. The writing on the wall was there when Murat had to go easy on Kessler to not cave in his self belief, Murat was obviously the much quicker fighter and was not put into serious trouble by Kessler. Kessler would have smoked him easily in the shape he was when he totally crushed Beyer in 3 rounds not losing a second of the fight.

I'm having trouble picking this one.

I'm not sure even a change in trainers at this stage of his career is going to do Kessler much good. He is what he is, a technically very sound fighter on the basic levels but without much creativity. He just doesn't know how to change gears or adapt to styles. The one thing that I came away from the Ward fight that I didn't already know from watching him against Calzaghe is he has a fairly decent chin. That could serve him well against Froch who leaves himself wide open as Kansas wheat field for counter shots.

Its a little late in the game for Kessler to incorporate something so instinctive as adaptability in the ring but he won't have to do much adapting in a fight against Froch. Froch won't be sliding around laterally with a lot of head movement. He'll be coming right at Kessler and that just might spell doom.

I'm just not sure yet who's doom.

This is a good point I picked kessler over froch , he just seems all round better but as this poster says froch is utterly 100% convinced he cannot lose and it is undoubtedly very difficult to beat someone who thinks that way !

Froch beat Taylor because Taylor is not a skilled fighter nor has he ever have been.

Sure he showed a little more skill in his first and second fight with Hopkins, but that was partially due to Hopkins tenative, cognitive approach to the game, and Taylor's youth and confidence.

And for the record if there was one more round in that fight B Hop would have knocked his ass out and there wouldn't have been a second fight. Hopkins was robbed.

But Taylor had very fast hands and a decent jab that he used effectively with his reach and reflexes, to woo the judges into giving him the decision.

But now that Taylor's reflexes and speed have diminished, he is what he is, which is a very limited fighter.

Froch is not some bumbling brawler. He's actually a skilled fighter that's good at counterpunching, it's just that his athleticism is not top notch and his inside games needs work.

But you're mistaken if you think he's Andrade.

And for the record, FROCH IS NOT ANDRADE.
