I can see why he is starting to duck fighters now. His fans defend him to their last breath and will not take any sort of criticism toward him well. He gets injured after Degale was nagging him to fight for many months. He finally vacates the IBF belt. He goes on twitter and talks about Hopkins etc.... And then Hopkins replied and pushed for the fight saying he'd fight Carl in his backyard. Froch backtracks and says it would do nothing for his legacy.... Oh wait... So will Chavez Jr do something for his legacy over Hopkins? He just wants the Chavez Jr fight which might not happen due to Chavez's legal problems with Arum.
The only fight Froch should concern himself with is a rematch with Ward That's the only fight that means something to his legacy. If he can't get over Ward, he needs to retire. Ward is a hurdle he has to surpass.
Froch is no dummy, he knows his style is made for Hopkins. Froch vs Hopkins will be a repeat of Froch vs Ward.
If Froch were fighting for legacy, he would fight DeGale. If he were fighting for money, he would fight Hopkins. Since he wants neither of them, I have to conclude that he's fighting for easy money.
I would like to see Froch finish his career the same way he fought throughout it, against the best and taking on real challenges. For me that means my order of preference would be: 1. Stevenson - LHW champ, real challenge, big achievement. 2. Golovkin - Top P4P fighter, most feared man in boxing, would be a huge fight. Those two are the fights I would really like to see. They're interchangeable, I don't really have a preference, either one would be great. If those are not possible my next choices would be: 3. DeGale - Good domestic fight, prove he didn't duck him. 4. Andre Dirrell Rematch - Clear up controversy of 1st fight à la Groves. 5. Anthony Dirrell - Unification. 6. Chavez Jr - Why not?
yes it would be cowardzaghe for froch to fight a 40something as his career pinnacle. forch is not like that at all.
