Froch would have beaten Golovkin

I would tentatively pick froch,and that's not a slight on tripleG as he's had the more impressive career imo.

Would defo have picked a prime golovkin. He,d have been too much for froch. Canelo just not a great match up for golovkin plus canelos a great fighter himself.

Froch took too much against opponents...you cant afford to do that against golovkin. Who,d start breaking you down from early. I think golovkin was always slightly overrated as good as he was/is.....he always took punches against guys....but not many could stand up to his heavy handed looping shots. Froch was solid as a rock but golovkins punching was very heavy.

 

Prime GGG wins a UD with at least one knockdown, Imo

 

Also slower and not hard to hit... Not saying golovkin is gonna have an easy time of it but peak golovkin against froch at the end of his career...

BTW Andre ward had 4 inch less reach than froch.. Guy with the furthest reach doesn't always win

 

I agree having a longer jab doesnt mean you always win. You mention Ward but Ward was better and bigger than GGG and had elite defensive skills, so it's really not a relevant comparison. A switched on Froch wasnt easy to hit, that's a myth. Froch would have been switched on against Golovkin as he would have known he was a threat. I think Frochs size, jab and power would have worn Golovkin down late on. Would have been a terrific fight.

 

When I made the ward comparison I meant it purely for the reach.... I ****ing hate Andre ward... But he was better than golovkin haha... It was more a comparison of how a smaller guy with a shorter reach but a world class jab can use it to good effect against froch.

Do have the disagree with you about froch being hard to hit.... Apart from the Abraham fight where he fought absolutely to the gameplan... I've never seen a fight where he didn't eat punches with his face... I like froch... Bit as a person but respect everything he did in the sport and used the attributes he had to be the 2nd best supermiddle of his time..... But at same time I'm always amazed he had as much success as he did... He was a very slow caveman... With a great jab, iron chin and will and good tank.... And he deserves the plaudits he gets.... Do I think his legacy is abit overrated... Sometimes.... But he was a hell of a fighter.

I feel like froch would have success early but when ggg starts controlling him with the jab... Froch would try and make it a war and gring ggg down... And would start catching huge shots... And as an old froch taking digs from a prime ggg... He woulda taken absolute bombs.... I think froch would have lost... In a great effort.... I think even he thought he might and that's why he left the fight....not the kinda fight you want and need at the end of your career.... Ride off into the sunset on the back of that beautiful groves ko Infront of 80000 people at Wembley... Perfect

 

I think Froch would've won, aside from the Jab he would've took all of GGGs advantages away.

The op is judging a 35 year old past prime GGG against a prime Froch.

A past prime GGG would struggle and lose against a prime Froch.

But a prime GGG destroys any version of Carl Froch.

GGG possess all of Froch's attributes but has them at an elite level. Froch is a jack of all trades master of none fighter who fights through his heart.

GGG fights with both his heart and mind combined.

 

How do you figure he went in arrogant against dirrell n Taylor....

The Taylor fight he looked more like a rabbit in headlights....

The dirrell fight froch got beat... He didn't land a punch at all... No shame.. Dirrell fought safe but no question he won.... His speed was too much for froch

I've listed frochs attributes that I feel were good.. But he is a caveman... And he looked like he was stuck in molasses

 

Prime GGG wins via decision. No point referencing either Canelo fight, GGG is way past it.

Both have granite chins and awesome gas tanks so neither gets the stoppage for me. Froch has the size advantage but I feel Golovkins speed and activity nicks a decision in a barnstormer of a fight.

 

I always fancied Froch in this.
