Froch would've beaten Golovkin, right?

That's always how it works with Golovkin's hardcore supporters, which accounts for why you don't tend to find me throwing my 2¢ in 'Golovkin vs. _____' threads. He ends up a hair's breadth from drawing with Daniel Jacobs in real life, but beats everyone in fantasy fights because him have big amateur record and him heap big puncher.

Golovkin just doesn't generally attract reasonable discussion, tending to draw large amounts of the most obnoxious elements arguing both for and against him. Although there have been a few good posts in this thread.

Yeah, there is a certain contingent of GGG fans who are just detached from reality. They watch Lemieux and Jacobs go to SMW and look awful and fail to draw any conclusions about what that means.

"up a hair's breadth from drawing with Daniel Jacobs"
That's a crock of **** right there. The mere fact that Jacobs survived garnered him points he would not otherwise have been given. Blend that together with the fact that EE fighters rarely get a fair shake on the judges scorecards in the US: GGG-Canelo I & II; Kov-Ward I; Derechenko-Jacobs; etc etc., makes it seem as though Jacobs was actually close to winning a fight he wasn't.

It really isn't. But you're entitled to your opinion, and to become furious and start cussing on account of another man's observation.

Thanks for illustrating my point within 10 minutes of my having made it.

I did say you were entitled to cuss. Whether it's necessary or indicative of a reasonable disposition is another matter.

Many had the knockdown making the difference. It was a close fight. Jacobs wasn't just surviving, he was competing and giving Golovkin a lot to think about.

I've re-watched it a few times and no closer than 115-113 GGG, to be gracious to CW Jacobs.

That's great. But a lot of people see it differently, and they're not all LDBC soldiers, they're mostly regular fight fans and pundits, some even with a generally favorable disposition toward Golovkin.

GGG barely landed anything but jabs after the knockdown and got tagged consistently with clean hard shots, if he wasn’t the A side he’d never have got a UD in Jacobs backyard. Now the dust has pretty much settled on his career, he actually hasn’t done anything that really separates him from Jacobs level. Most overhyped fighter of the last decade.

Froch also said, during the same promotion (in a feature aired within a couple days of that Q&A, in fact), that Golovkin was "cleverer than I thought" when Eddie alluded to insider info regarding GGG and his team being reluctant or wary about the prospect of facing Froch.

Not that Eddie's allusions are typically worth much, but more that Froch seemed to fancy his chances that day and that his dry wit always did go over folks' heads.

Moreover, recent comments from Froch suggest that Golovkin's camp wanted to handicap him by making him cut below 168, despite their bold PR about meeting him at the limit.

You seem to be confusing GGG with the likes of Wilder, AJ, etc.

GGG achieved 20 straight defenses of his MW title. He was robbed twice versus the roided-up Clenelo. To suggest he was over-hyped is absolutely startling, and of course uneducated.

I haven't counted, but 114-113 to Golovkin seems to be the most common scorecard.

Not that the moral consensus can't be wrong, and one should be able to defend one's own score without calling on the weight of the majority, but rather to make the point that I don't think it's only a few LDBC goons seeking to discredit to Golovkin or a few forumites overcrediting the underdog for a plucky effort who have this one razor close.

There's not many ATGs , if any at all , that have been "robbed twice" by the same man.
