I have no doubt in my mind that Jermain Taylor will score a knockout against Carl Froch come Saturday. Carl Froch might have a puncher's chance but I doubt his skill will carry him through anything. This fight Taylor has the upperhand is a majority of the categories ... better boxing fundamentals; jab, defense, movement, and speed. Froch keeps his left hand low, inviting the right hand and he's not known for being a counter puncher. I see this fight going to the late rounds with Froch being knocked down a couple of times - then it going to a ref stoppage. What do you guys think?
I can't see a KO, really; Taylor will comfortably outbox him and will have no need to push the fight. Also, one thing that Froch does have is a good chin, and Taylor's hardly a devastating puncher in any case.
I think its closer than that. Although this might be because I got burnt by picking Taylor over Pavlik the first time and that I've just totally lost faith in Jermain Taylor. So much potential seems just hasn't turned into a promising career. I wasn't impressed with his performance against Lacy either. I hope your right the guy once looked like one of boxing brightest stars and now I'm just disappointed every time the guy gets in the ring.
I don't think chin matters when you don't protect yourself in the process -- Now if he gets hit on the right spot, he's going to go down ... and I doubt if he's been hit by a world class fighter with precision punching ability. He doesn't jab at all which will cause some trouble _ I wouldn't be surprised if he got desperate late in the fight and left himself even more open.
Are we basing this solely on the Pascal fight? Although even then he used the jab in later rounds and looked in complete control whenever he did.
Can't see Taylor stopping Froch. Froch has always fought at 168 and has never been dropped, let alone stopped, as a pro or amateur. Taylor on the other hand as only just stepped up to 168 and hasn't stopped anyone for a about 4 years. I'll go with Taylor UD.
I completely agree, Froch has a hard head so it won't be a big punch that takes him out, but I can see it getting sad enough that the ref might call it. Pascal was doing very well against him but got sloppy, JT will stay sharp.
NO, i've seen more than one Carl Froch fight ... he hasn't fought world class opposition, he's never been tested and Saturday will be the ulitimate test. He doesn't box well at all !! He will fight in the US for the first time against a good boxer _ who happens to be a former champion. The fight with Pascal was rock em sock em robots ...
Taylor 116-112 JT could KO Froch late in the fight but Taylor never shown the stamina to carry his power in the late round so i guess it will be the same here. But he definitly got the speed ,jab and straight to keep Froch off his back !
"Joe could probably have tapped and slapped his way to a boring points win, but I GUARANTEE you I will smoke Taylor's boots and destroy him" WBC SMW titleholder Carl Froch. So I have to believe in that guarantee even if Froch is said to have a leaky defense, keeping his left hand low and enabling opponents to strike over the top. Taylor was highly accurate with his jab against Lacy ( 107 landed out of 257 jabs thrown) and he will need to outjab Froch so that the Brit doesn't nail him with hard rights right behind the jab. Foch's 0 will go on Sat nite? Maybe Jermain Taylor will go to somewhere else but the top contendership at 168 lbs, maybe we will get to see that Taylor-Miranda clash sooner than we thought but as a support fight for a main event!
This guy has never fought a world class opponent before and it will show this Saturday. He's never been in the ring with a skilled boxer ... He's never been hit by a precise puncher ... Who has Froch fought that would confirm what you're writing? ... I hope it aint Pascal because he's never accomplished anything outside of a madatory title challenge. Froch hasn't fought anything better than a faded Robin Reid.
