Froch is very open to counters, and Bute will without a doubt try to counter him specially with his left uppercut to the liver, which might be the must devastating punch in SMW. But Froch attacks from very awkward angles, and Bute is not as fast or slick as Ward, and Bute's chin might be suspicious while Froch might be the must hard-hitting SMW. How will he deal with Froch's awkward style?
If Froch comes forward, Bute will counter-punch him hard for the duration to the fight, as he's the better ring general and Froch's awkwardness isn't varied or unpredictable enough to trouble Bute, I think. Now if Froch makes Bute lead for a significant period of time, then he's probably got a better chance of landing some good punches.
I think quite the opposite. I think Froch is better off coming forward as he himself is a better fighter that way as opposed to being a counterboxer. I also believe that pressure is needed to defeat Bute.
Froch has an awkward style which could give to Bute some problems but his ( Froch ) lack of speed will pull him down in this fight. Anyway this is one of the best fights at smw, especially that Bute goes in Nottingham to fight.:yep
The significant differences in speed and skill was demonstrated by their relative performances against Johnson. Froch scraped a win, and never had Johnson in any trouble, whereas Bute dominated him, and forced Johnson to go into survival mode.
Wrong on several counts. First, Bute and Ward have comparable handspeed. Second, Bute has superior one-punch power.
Froch might be slow but he's awkward as hell and somewhat slick in his own way. I think it would be foolish to think Bute would just dominate Froch given Froch's recent resume. I would favor Bute but it wouldn't shock me one bit if Froch pulled it out.
Yes, let's examine his recent resume. He was dominated by Ward, triumphed in a highly competitive scrap over Johnson (a fighter Bute easily outpointed), and should have lost to Dirrell. Not exactly the stuff of Sugar Ray Robinson.
The Johnson fight was competitive but not close. Froch clearly won. And he dominated Abraham, something which shocked most people as they didn't think he had that extra dimension to box. The fact is, outside of his loss to Ward, he held his own against the elite SMWs.
But Froch isn't exactly a swarmer himself. You're right in saying that counter-punching isn't Froch's strong point as much as coming forward is, but he should emphasize range and distance without falling into Bute's traps. An Arthur Abraham like game-plan would be his best bet I feel to land enough hard punches to hurt and stop him or win the rounds on points. I still favor Bute but Froch has to try and neutralize the things Bute is best at if he wants to be competitive.
