Dirrell was at his first big fight, he was scared and running away.Andre does not poses such a weapon like Bute's fast uppercut to the body or chin nor does have a similar power.
Bute is a total different animal. He knows knows how to plant his feat and twist with the punch. This pivot adds power and speed. A not so green Dirrell would've won a UD against Froch.Dirrell can actually win a UD against Bute to.

Yes. Not much though. He took a couple uncoordinated windmill slappers.

AA could not pass by his Jab. You don't need to block that jab you need to slip by:

froch has one of the best beards in the buisness , its a fault having the chin exposed but not really a risk if anything it opens up more chances for him to land the straight right that would likely bein following that jab

Bute has the tendency to step back in the moment his opponent try to land something on him leaving him to fall short on his punches , Froch has the tendency to go wide for a more powerful shot neglecting the defense.Bute has a very good footwork.
Here's the same move against a boxer who didn't run ala Dirrell:

That straight right that would likley follow would have to travel a good distance. That hand won't be able to travel the distance to his own body in time to be able to defend against a body shot not to mention the distance towards his opponent face.Try to mimic the move and your realize how much will take. Not to mention after an overextended jab like that he could be out of balance, the weight shift from a foot to another would not be done in time.

Poor footwork is the common cause of this. Watch Roberto Duran... right hand always poised and ready to defend his chin, but also fire off in a blink of an eye...

Froch has a few bad habits, this is true. But when facing a big puncher in AA, he showed he can eradicate the mistakes and put on a boxing masterclass if truth be told.

It remains to be seen weather he will go back to his 'old' style, or if he will continue to box the way he did against AA.

Froch would be the best opponent Bute has faced, but Bute wouldn't Bute wouldn't b the best fighter froch has fought.

Nice to know what Andre Ward will expose on Froch when they fight in the fall.

yes and also froch can counterpunch when needed

just because froch doesn't fight in the conventional text book way does not mean he cant counterpunch or box.

Good analysis. It's true that Froch can't fight against Bute as he did against Dirrell. He's too open for liver shots and left uppercut, which are Bute's favorites weapon.

However, I don't think that Froch would fight that way against Bute. He wanted Dirrell to go toe to toe against him because he's got a good chin and great power. He didn't respect Dirrell's power and that's why he kept his hands down. Against Bute, his plan should be to keep his hands up and be patient in the first few rounds. Bute hits really hard. I think that Froch's got better stamina and could really hurt Bute in the last rounds if he gets there.

I would say that Bute's got 60% chance of winning and Froch 40%. Carl would have to be nearly perfect, but I could see it happening.
