so what? we all know froch is an ugly boxer and looks awkward. surely thats nothing new? the thing is though he keeps winning, kessler apart obviously. bute should beat froch but froch has some equalisers in his heart, chin, fitness and a solid right hand which mean he will always be dangerous. hey, i know it was some time ago but if andrade can have bute out on his feet, why cant froch?
Are you saying this would be a beautiful counterpunching matchup? I don't see Carl using finesse in a Bute fight. His gameplan, since Bute's got the edge in footwork and power, will probably focus on outworking the **** out of him. He can't do that ala Froch-Abraham because Bute isn't the one coming forward here. Froch will have to work the jab in, which he could obviously end up doing, and manhandle Bute in a slugfest. No way does he try and box Bute's ears off, Bute's head movement and handspeed would allow him to slip some jabs and move around big rights to counter with left hooks/uppercuts. That's Froch's death. Whoever is losing come the mid-rounds will have to adjust, and both are capable to do just that IMO. Could be an awesome fight.
****ing Bute nuthuggers convention in here. We'll see how good he is when he faces some live opposition. Until then, the jury's out.
The only way anyone can have a real idea how well Bute would do against Froch is if Bute can get a decent challenger. Froch lost a close fight to Kessler, but Bute hasnt fought anyone as good as Kessler yet, and Bute was lucky not to have a KO loss against him, when he first fought Andrade. Froch although limited has found a way to win every time except once in a close fight. I like Bute but wonder how good he would look in fights against Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler or Abraham and if he would win them all.
Froch could win. The fact that Bute fought 4 round X2 , 3 rounds and 9 rounds in his last 4 fights could be a disadvantage, he doesn't know where his at with stamina.I only wanted to show that Froch has wholes in his game and Bute has the tools to take advantage of them. Bute is comparable in speed technique footwork with the fighters that beat or came very close to beat Froch ( Kessler,Dirrell,Taylor ) and he has the advantage of being a southpaw also has better power then those I mentioned above. If if that jab of his doesn't turn out to be extremely efficient, Bute's boxing will also look more appealing to the judges.
Pascal: was green at the time and wanted no part of Bute... nobody wanted to see him in the ring with Bute after Pascal-Pittman Taylor: could have troubled Bute, yep. Chances of a late solution to slick Jermain and stoppage around the 10th/11th. Dirrell: Froch won a close one, you forgot to mention that. Bute would get taken to very deep waters against Dirrell IMO like I posted in a different thread, predicting a hard fought Bute UD where Dirrell outlands him but goes down once or twice. Kessler: it's coming. Within the next year. If it doesn't happen, Bute-Dirrell should. Abraham: I don't think it's even close... Bute could very well do his version of the Dirrell blueprint, except with loads of power in his punches. I'm not saying Magee is a great challenger, but he's contributing to Bute's late development I guess (!!)... can you admit this Magee will be a stronger, more intelligent fighter than the Magee who fought Froch?
LOL did you not associate the with sarcasm? You were supporting a guy who said Froch could box etc by confirming his ability to counterpunch... ...just pointing out the irony.
I'd take Bute over Froch. Froch has a good jab and is effective when he can keep the fight at a distance and work behind that jab. The problem is that when he goes on the attack he's there to be countered as we saw guys like Taylor and Dirrell do and I think Bute would exploit this. One thing I think that went overlooked was often Brinkley was touching up Bute in their fight and there was some damage on Bute's face at the end of that fight ( This content is protected ). I guess because he got beat up himself and eventually KOed and that's often the only think people remember (i.e. Alexander-Urango). Brinkley fought a technical fight and probably even pulled out a couple rounds. Kessler is very technical fighter and obviously on another level then Brinkley has a great 1-2 that I could see him having success with. That would be interesting fight.
Do you really think that Bute looks like that now? :rofl It's so easy to beat Bute that Kessler should take him as a tune up fight. Why don't you ask for that fight?
Froch has faced people who hit as hard as Bute. Bute has not faced people who hit as hard as Froch. Froch is hardly a classically styled boxer, but he is awkward, has a great sense of range and can crack. Its enough to beat Bute at this point in time.
