His ability to take a punch is respected by many but will his chin be able to stand up to bombs thrown by the likes of Kessler and Pavlik.

I suspect he may actually get knocked out. I hope not tho.

I don't think it will be a matter of his chin, I'm sure thats very good, but he's too open. Not many people can take a sustained beating from this type of puncher. Also, Froch's stamina is suspect. That might catch up with him and lead to a stoppage also.

His chin has yet to be tested by a big puncher. But it has taken everything so far so kudos to him.

Yes definitely. Will Pavlik be able to absorb Froch's punches? Not so definite.

pavlik didnt really show signs of carrying extra weight well against hopkins so i dont think he will be a problem for froch, then again froch is no b-hop. Against kessler is a different issue but i do belive he can take those shots from Mikkel

Before the Froch fight i had seen Pascal once and he didnt show the power that people give him credit for. Froch was caught clean by a average hitter im still not sold on his granite chin but he does have a very good one.

he fought with damaged ribs against pascal. He took some good solid digs and still did not fall. If he fights like that he will either get tko'd or lose heavily via points decision.

I think he would take Pavlik's shots - they are pretty telegraphed, especially higher up..... though admittedly he was up against a defensive genius in Hopkins.

Either way, I think Froch beats Pavlik.

Kessler would box his ears off, and whilst he is hittable..... never down as amateur or pro (I believe) his own beard would take away Froch's power.

Kessler wide UD Froch..... or late stoppage.

Does Froch base himself on Naseem Hamed or something? I see similarities, especially with lack of defense, carrying the hands low, and how he plants his shots. Just my observation.

Pascal may not be a devastating hitter but he wound up some huge shots that landed flush on Froch and didn't make a dent. That means his chin is at least very good. If he can take those kind of shots against a big puncher then he has a granite chin. But, regardless of how good his chin is, his defence is so bad he's bound to get stopped sooner rather than later.

Looks like Froch has a very good chin. One of his best assets, it would seem. Considering he is severly lacking in other areas, then his good chin is probablly for the best.

It looks good but his problem is his slow speed and stamina.

    Froch lacking stamina?

For a big man he has good stamina, and did a hard 12 vs Pascal, taking over late, winning a very physical fight, throwing power shots all the way through. Always good to see a fighter taking over late, in what appeared to be an even(ish) bout for the first two thirds. There are lots of fighters who fade late, such as Jermain Taylor, for instance. Of course Froch had to have breathers, but I believe it was his first 12 rounds done (similar to Calzaghe-Eubank).

He can take a punch also, but the important thing is NOT to take big shots if you don't have to. More big shots he takes, more injuries he can pick up, more potential layoffs. Get using that excellent jab, Carl!

Froch won a thrilling fight vs Pascal, but I hope he does adopt a more sensible style. Because it will be bad for him if he loses momentum at this time.

Taylor, Kessler etc all have telegraphed right hands, as did Pascal. Right hands that you can see coming, without maximum power due to their technique. Now if froch fought someone who could disguise their right hand, who can throw a compact, powerful right, there could be trouble.
