Hum! Do we live in parallel worlds in which Carl Froch are not exactly identical? 1) Froch is not a big SMW. 2) Pascal is not a big puncher at all. He was gettin ko's against p level boxers. He has 2 ko's at his 8 last fights. 3) But what I find the most bizarre in your statement is the comparison between Pascal, Taylor and Kessler. To compare Kessler and Pascal's right hand and to tell they are about the same put me on my ass, laughing very loud. Have a nice day in your dream world.
And how do you work this out? How can he have a granite chin if it's been un-tested by world class power.
I think you just have to fall in love with Froch. In french, we say l'amour est aveugle (love is blind).
I don't rate his Chin yet as he has not fought anyone with excellent power yet. His Chin is undetermined at the moment.
As much as Froch's fights are entertaining soon as he comes up against the likes of Pavlik or Taylor I can only see him losing. His defense will be his downfall.
I agree with you. I don't think his chin will be the major factor in Froch next fights. Footspeed and defense will be.
It's hard to judge his chin so far as it's yet to be tested. But regardless, i feel he could take a stoppage against one of the super middle weight elites. His chin may or may not be granite, but everyone gets hurt at somepoint, and when he gets hurt what little defence he has will disappear...
his chin is pure granit. never down amateur or pro, hes been hit flush by big punchers, ok not world class but still, dont think he will ever be stopped.
Not tested to call it granite, sorry. It seems to be at least very good. But what people think is he will go down not on one punch but at the end of a beating. The chin is not the only thing to consider in a ko. Look at Bute, he went down because he was exhausted, not because Andrade hit him solidly. That's what could happen to Froch.
He has got a great chin so far but who knows against the better fighters, kessler? im not sure. i wont lie im not a froch fan and i dont think hes got the stamina or skill to make it big time, hes got no gaurd no head movement, his like a plank of wood!
Froch is a tall super middle, and quite well built. He's a big strong bloke, and I think you;d see a significant difference in size if he took on Balzsay or Inkin or an ex middle like Taylor. Kessler, Taylor and Pascal all throw obvious right hands. Taylor cocks his right hand before throwing it - you can see it coming, whatever world you are in. Pascal throws his power shots as if he's in a movie, not a boxing match - more for show than effect. Kessler's right hand is telegraphed. Froch IS open to a right hand, but right now there are no deadly accurate right hand punchers. Now if there was someone who could drop in a quick, accurate right hand like James Toney used to be able to throw, that would cause real problems for Froch. Pascal isn't a big puncher, but he landed some meaty, flush shots on Froch's chin, throughout the fight, and Froch took 'em well. Who else is there? Dirrell and Ward maybe? One handed fighters. They throw a left jab, and then for their follow up, they turn southpaw to throw a straight left. Mundine perhaps? Nice compact puncher, good counter puncher, but very timid and combat shy. Zuniga, Bika - wide, telegraphed bombs.
He's tall but he's not big compared to Kessler and Bute. He would be at least 6 or 7 pounds lighter. You're right when you say Pascal hits like if he was in a film. Funny comparison. But Taylor, even if he cocks his hand before throwing his right, is fast enough to hit Froch. Pascal has been able to do it all night long, even if he hits as if he was in a movie. That's why we are a bunch of people saying Froch has a poor defense. Getting hit by a guy like Pascal. As for Kessler, obviously his opponents are unable to avoid his "telagraphed" rights. And obviously Froch wouldn't be able to avoid them either.
Froch did say he wanted to put it all on the line vs Pascal. He'd had a frustrating build up, with 2 pullouts by Inkin, injuried before the fight - I think he just wanted to lay into Pascal. I'm glad he did - as it was a very good fight. But he should do some more of that long, fast jabbing that he did in spurts with Pascal. Will make things much easier. He looks a rough handful for anyone, but can't keep on giving away free shots to the opponent, or else something bad will happen - whether it's losing, or having too much wear and tear. Taylor and Kessler have great jabs, but I don't think their rights are as good as they look. Though Kessler did brutalise Sartison and Haussler. Taylor had Lacy hurt, but he doesn't seem able to sustain an attack. Froch used to look a bit skinny. I think with him being 31, the metabolism slows down, you end up putting more weight on post weigh ins. Maybe froch ha s a great chin, maybe not. Hopefully he DOESN'T have to show us!
Froch does look a rough handful who will keep on coming at you, walking through shots. Though some feel that him being open for power shots means that more will want to fight him, I see it as the opposite. A lot of super middles like to fight their own pace, and Froch will push and push with his fierce approach to fighting.
