How do you think it'll be tonight? Lucian, as always, will have that left uppercut primed and ready. Froch's a man who's been notably hurt downstairs against Kessler and even Ward - who, prior to their fight, noted the body as being one of Froch's weak points. In fact, I think he said most British fighters don't seem to be trained to take body shots. So, how much do you think this'll play a factor tonight?
I don't think it matters if your belly is made of iron - if a good body puncher hits you in the right spot then you're in trouble. And those whipping uppercuts from Bute look natty!!
I agree with Rico Kessler in particular seemed to really trouble Froch with his body shots but like Shaunster said doesn't matter how well trained or tough you are a perfect solarplex or liver shot can hurt anyone. Ask Zaragoza or Andrade.
Yeah, been watching Sky's previews, and all they keep showing are those ruthless bodyshots. Froch rarely keeps his hands up, which I suppose is a good thing. Maybe he'll block a few with his arms when they're kept to the side.
Anyone here think this could be the last time we see Froch in the ring? I think a KO loss and he'll call it a day.
I don't think Bute is gonna use so much his uppercuts against Froch . He'll probably rely on his right hook and straight left punches.
He needs to keep his hands up at the right times tonight, but at the same time not stand front on because he'll be open to uppercuts. He needs to jab and feign his way in while dodging Bute's short lefts, which is his money shot for me.I know Bute's a great bodypuncher, but I think he needs a bit of distance to get them off,so judging distance is essential for Froch. I know Carl's up against it,but as a supporter I have to think of any possible key to victory.
It is a worry but McCraken will of drummed it into Carl how dangerous it is. Bute does whip it in at the same time his opponent is throwing and with Carl not always being the quickest and most defensive i can't see it not landing tbh. The question is how often will it land? Froch's awkward angled uppercuts and hooks might cancel them out to some extent and we don't know how Bute will handle Froch's pressure. Quality fight, tough one to call and i'm right behind The Cobra.
with Frochs leaky defense theres no way this shot isnt gonna land in the 12 rounds they will be in the ring for I think Froch will be ready for it but Bute is so dangerous if Froch keeps his focus on defending the body left, then the left to the head will be open basically Froch is gonna miss with a right hand during the fight, be too slow in bringing it back and Bute his gonna drop him to the body then Bute will do it again or like in most Bute fights he will drop the hands to guard the body and forget about Butes dangerous uppercut and get dropped from a head shot
I think a lot of people are expecting Froch to be the aggressor in this fight and pressure Bute onto the backfoot. I'm not so sure that will be the case. Froch has shown tendencies in the last few fights to play the role of the counterpuncher, which can actually play to his advantage in this fight. I think Bute shines, and has the best opportunity to land that bodyshot/uppoercut, when his opponent is coming at him aggressively.
I think it would be smarter for Froch to play it safe and to force Bute to come to him Froch is a better boxer than many on here give him credit for I think Bute should be the heavy favorite here but Froch has a good chance
Froch will be getting hit with those shots and I think it will affect his offense and cause him to be a bit more defensive and show Bute more respect. Having said that I don't think this is going to be a one-sided beat down, Froch will have his moments and will cause Bute a few problems. This will be a UD, around 116-112, shouldn't be a SD but it just maybe.
I think Froch absolutely has to force Bute back to prevent him getting his feet planted.Bute is such a fluid southpaw that for me,the only way is to disrupt his rhythm completely and not move in straight lines. From a Froch fanpoint,Carl's right hand is ther key weapon and way to victory tonight.Keep it up while not standing front on,and lowering it at EXACTLY the right time to block the bodyshots, then getting it off as a lead punch when stepping to Bute's left. Everyone goes on about the body but I think Bute's short left is the real sickener of a punch. If any SMW catches a Bute bodyshot full on,it's gonna give them problems. He either takes it or he doesn't.
I agree with this here...and if I could advise Froch directly I'd like him to go for a bit more volume punching over his usual loaded up power shots...I've long thought that's what cost him against Kessler...a wee bit more of an output and fewer attempted home run shots would've pinched some of those closer rounds.
