There was a bit in The Sun about it...

FIGHT fans WILL be able to watch Carl Froch's clash with Jermain Taylor on April 25 — thanks to the internet.

It was feared the Cobra's supporters would miss his first defence of the WBC super-middleweight title after Britain's top TV firms refused to screen it due to the credit crunch.
But the showdown in Connecticut will be shown live on pay-per-view at frochvtaylor.com — much to the champion's relief.
Froch said: "I'm delighted my fans in the UK and Ireland are going to get the opportunity to see me beat Taylor in style.
"He says he's going to teach me how to lose but I have a few lessons of my own in mind for him.
"It's a huge fight for me and a chance to prove beyond doubt that I'm the best super-middleweight on the planet."
Froch, 31, is clearly disappointed with the likes of ITV and Setanta for failing to televise what could be one of the bouts of the year.
But the Nottingham fighter insists the lack of TV coverage is purely down to the economic climate.
He added: "Big and small industries are suffering and sport is no different.
"The last time there was a recession was the 1930s so it's frustrating that I've become world champion at this time.
"It's frustrating not to get the publicity and the coverage we want.
"But I'm not in the sport for the money — I'm in it because I love it."

I still think Setanta will get this, but just a few days before the fight. Setanta have started to buy fights very late because I think they get a cheap deal by leaving it late.

I think the internet broadcast will go ahead. From what I can gather the door has been shut, for the moment, on the deal. The only thing that can happen now is if Setanta, as you say, come in with a late deal. But I really don't think they would've went to all the effort of advertising the web coverage if it wasn't going to happen.

As has been said, once any payments are taken for the fight on the website then there's no coming back - but dont expect a 'payments' option until the day of the fight. It costs nothing to set a website up and put a few banners on Hennessy's own ITV 4 promotion. Team Froch have admitted on their forum yesterday that his is their fall back, and they have to try and make people aware that it exists. Hopefully this absurd situation gets sorted this week and not 24-48 hrs before the fight so it can be given at least some sort of tv build up that it deserves

Carnage, as a Froch fan are you concerned that this uncertainty and frustration will have had a bad effect on Froch in the build-up?

The whole thing is a farce, and is bad for boxing.
