From 154-168, who's your 5 guys that can challenge Golovkin and why? He's mine

160-Quillian- I think he will be the first fighter who Golovkin's fought that can hit hard and possible hurt him. How does Golovkin react when he gets cracked? We don't know

154-Lara- Has pure skill and could frustrate Golovkin. I can see Lara going the distance and depending on how he handles Golovkin's power could get a UD

154-Canelo Alvarez- Another 154 pounder with pure skill that Golovkin hasn't seen. I would love to see this fight as I don't see Alvarez making 154 much longer. This fight would be a war.

168-Ward- Speed and Strength which Golovkin has never seen. He's strong on the inside and has faced punchers just as big if not bigger like Froch. I see Ward beating Golovkin

168-Andre Dirrell- How does Golovkin react when faced with a slighty bigger quicker man? I can see Dirrell winning by UD, although I can see Golovkin putting Dirrell on his bicycle and Dirrell just won't do enough to win.

Although these guys pose a challenge to Golovkin that he's never seen. I would favor Ward over him, but would love to see him fight the rest of these guys

Honorable Mention: Carl Froch, Arthur Abraham

Here's my write up from the other day. Although at SMW, I would say Froch, Dirrell, Ward, Fedor Chudinov and Groves.

    Number 1: David Lemieux
Much has been made about DL getting KO'd against Rubio, but few have actually seen the KO, Rubio hit David right behind his left ear and it clearly effected his equilibrium, because technically it was an illegal punch, also his stamina wasn't great back then, because he'd never had to go that deeply into a match. So those 2 factors have everything to do with the RTD. David has improved in the stamina department it seems, so based on GGG not being that amazing fighting off the back foot and not being the hardest to hit target, if David who fights with a somewhat similar high guard as Murray, catches GGG will a decent shot, he may have a slight chance. Although he better jump GGG from the opening bell and go all out because the longer it goes the more his chances greatly diminish. But P4P he may punch just as hard if not harder than GGG.

    Number 2: Ievgen Khytrov
Khytrov who's 8-0 8 KO's while not known by many he may in fact be an even greater threat than Lemieux. He has the amateur pedigree than Lemieux doesn't, but its no ordinary amateur pedigree he's had 500 matches and has a 80% KO ratio. Which is quite scary. The Ukrainian Khytrov packs the same devastating touch you and you go down power that GGG possesses and he to a lesser extent utilizes a similar shifting technique that Golovkin uses to cut off the ring and always be in his opponents face. Khytrov may also have more power than GGG, that remains to be seen but he has a higher KO ratio than GGG in the amateurs. He gets hit a little too much but he has a definite puncher's chance as well. He may be The Next Big Thing at Middleweight and sooner or later all of you will want to see Golovkin vs Khytrov like you do with Kovalev vs Beterbiev.

    Number 3: Andy Lee
While Andy would most likely get KTFO early in the match and personally I think he would fold under the pressure of GGG within a few rounds, but he has the great equalizer, The Right Hand of Doom. It may be one of the most devastating weapons in all of boxing, let me put this into perspective, Matt Korobov had never been badly hurt as a pro and I think even as an amateur, but here's the catch he fought Beterbiev and Kovalev as an amateur and has a wins over both. Yet Andy nearly knocked his head loose. Andy would probably get knocked but has a chance with a perfect right hand, which he seems to have perfected when in trouble, which he'll be in from the opening bell.

    Number 4: Dmitry Chudinov
He's a longshot, his power seems to come and go from opponent to opponent, but when he's on, he can be quite devastating a match between he and Golovkin would look like a battle between two Rams, and if they start going at it, he could possibly stop Golovkin along the way, he also appears to have a solid chin. He also has a win over Bouadla who he stopped in 3 when GGG went the distance with him only one of 3 so far, he has a match coming up against Chris Eubank Jr. Saturday and if he can pull off that win over the more offensively minded Eubank we'll have a better idea of how he'd do against Triple G.

    Number 5: Billy Joe Saunders
While this one is an incredible longshot, that fact is that Billy Joe is an incredibly slick Boxer who seems to have a solid chin, and if BJS can fight just out of range of GGG punches and land just enough, he may be able to steal 6 or 7 rounds early. However stamina seems to be an issue with him so if he gasses late he's screwed but if he can improve in that department, maybe he could get a MD or SD, but this one is a real stretch. But I do think he's far better and more elusive than Martin Murray so its vaguely possible.

everyone 168 and under gets a beating except possibly Ward after a couple good tune-ups and if Froch while getting completely outboxed swung for the fences and connected on his jaw. hard to say since we've never seen Golovkin bothered by a punch, much less stunned.

and he saw andre dirrell twice in the amateurs, splitting, but Golovkin is a completely different animal now.

Froch IMO has a better chance than Ward, because I think the best chance stylistically to beat GGG is to go to war. Obviously you need certain physical attributes and mentality to make a serious attempt at that, but Froch does in fact fit that bill to a degree few if any other fighters 54-68 do.

Golovkin can handle Ward's rush, duck and clinch game. I do not see anyone winning the fight with just movement.

Regarding Dirrell, D won the first fight - an exhibition in the US. Golovkin then beat him in the Olympics for silver. Golovkin can punch on the move, cover mad distance, cut ring, and damage someone escaping. Lara, Dirrell, Mora, etc I do not see as having a snow***** chance.

I think with 2 more years exp, and a bit more maturity and mature physical strength Canelo would have a good shot. He is a talented fighter, with the ability to go to war and the mentality to do it. I just don't think he is ready yet for that level of a war with Golovkin.

Stevens and Rubio hit harder than Quillin.

Lets see if Quillin can escape Lee's right hook. I'm not sure he is going to win that fight by any stretch. A lot will depend on whether he has been using his long periods of relative inactivity to shore up deficits in his game, or if he has just been living the good life.

A Canelo fight would serve well to GGG both paycheck and reputation-wise. He needs, in my opinion, 2-3 wins like this one and he will be HOF material.

Chavez Jr could be an option as well.

Canelo would have to fight at least one good win at 160 , same as Lara, otherwise they will be viewed as SWW's being dragged up to MW

I think Ward and Froch would give a good run. But all of those fight are interesting. Hope they can be made.

Pretty good list. Andre Dirrell hasn't beat a top fighter in a long time. Arthur Abraham has been winning but has not been dominant or showed much power lately... Paul Smith isn't all that good.

Good chance of giving him a challenge and even beating him:

Andre Ward - Great defense, very fast and a smart fighter.

Reasonable chance of giving him a challenge:

Carl Froch - Big, strong, good reach and enough power that he could potentially KO GGG if he could land a great punch.

James DeGale - Could cause him some problems with his speed.

Andre Dirrell - Has given him competitive fights in the amateurs.

Sakio Bika - He just almost always gives guys a challenge.

George Groves - Big, quick and powerful. Could possibly land a great punch.

Small chance of giving him a challenge:

Bernard Hopkins - Excellent defence, chin, skill and intelligence.

Erislandy Lara - Good speed and skill.

    Punchers chance (small):

Canelo Alvarez - Decent power, speed and skill.

Miguel Cotto - Decent power, speed and skill.

Andy Lee - Decent power and skill.
