From 1900-1970, I can't think of many contenders who would have troubled Tyson. Your asking for non-linear champions.

The very good punchers would have the best chance.

Peter Jackson, Tom Sharkey, Sam Langford, Harry Wills, George Godfrey, and Elmer Ray. If you extend the dates a bit, Ernie Shavers.

Problem with that is, Tyson had an excellent chin and required a beat down to put away. I'd say guys like Tommy Farr and Eddie Machen who could box and move would be more likely candidates.

Chuvalo and Bonavena would both be one sided massacres, IMO. Too easy to hit. Williams would be stopped quickly, perhaps in a Berbick like fashion. I don't know about Langford and Wills. Tom Sharkey and Rex Layne may end up getting the Spinks treatment.

I never suggested you thought they would win, I just gave my reasons why I didn't think they would be able to put up much resistance .

Jackson had over 90 fights, scoring just 27 stoppages, 17 of them over non-entities.I wouldn't classify him as a very good puncher and he doesn't figure as such in any list that I have ever seen.
