6 and that's being generous. no head movement, poor combinations, footwork is terrible and his stamina is the worst it's been in ages. one or two shots, miss and grab. that's not the tyson of old. the only things remaining were the handspeed and power but he was unable to use them consistently

I thought his head movement and speed looked real good in the fight. Only thing I thought that was missing comparing it to his old fights was the consistent use of bodypunching and combos.

honestly, i didn't find the head movement to be purposeful. you're right, he did move his head but he was completely ineffective and almost for show or out of habit. it was useless in preventing holyfield's counterpunches and was inconsistent

His punching is suppose to prevent Holyfields counterpunching, not his head movement and if you watch the video, Holyfield hardly hit him with any flush shots bec ause of his headmovement. The problem was Tyson wasn't being consistent with his punching in combination and bodywrok, which he started doing in the third round and was dominating that round.

I think Tyson's problem was more mental than physical. I think he was still pretty good. This fight happens several fights later but Tyson is dangerous as hell here in the opening of round 1. I think the Tyson that fought Golota would terrorize today's heavyweights. Anyway, a quick question, can someone tell me why the verdict of his Golota fight was called a No Contest rather than a TKO? Never understood that.

I think he was close to a 10 but if you honestly think he was a 10 for the fight, maybe you should pop in the mitch green fight or bonecrusher fight and you can see a big difference. One of the problems was Giachetti wasn't doing the number system that Rooney did with him(something Cus D' Matao designed) and wasn't training the sameway. If Rooney had trained him for the fight, instead of Giachetti, we would of seen the old Tyson again. Your only gonna fight the way you train, I don't care what shape your in, it's called muscle memory and everything starts in the Gym.

true. his jab was traditionally what prevented counters but his constant head movement was his most effective defense. and yes, those are definitely the reasons why he won the third but he blew he load there and was unable to maintain any of that in the following round

i have to disagree. those years in jail dumbed down much of tyson's physical strengths. his was always a style based in youth. he lacked the stamina and speed of old. while post prison (and post rooney) training was always horrible, he was never going to be the 86-88 tyson again. he could be very, very good but never the dynamo we saw before

I think Tyson tested positive for marijuana after the fight.

I was joking mate. I meant I won money on Holyfield at 4/1, after the first fight it looked a certainty to me that the rematch would be more of the same.

Tyson just got beaten on every level in that first fight, bar a lucky punch/ combo I couldn't see him winning the second fight.

There was never a following round bec ause he got disqualiafied in the third. So we don't know what would of happened had the fight continued. Based what I seen in the third round were good signs for Tyson if the fight continued and he kept at it the same way but it's merely speculation. But if Rooney was in his corner for the fight, I think it's probable that we would of seen more of what we seen in the third round for the whole fight and he would of looked 2 notches better.
