Floyd fights 2-3 more times imo. Let see what he chooses to do

The winner of this fight (if they fight soon enough whilst it's still sort of relevant) is a definite P4P top 10 of all-time imo, regardless of who it is.

I'll get slated for this but the winner would have a much deeper resume with better wins than somebody like Bob Fitzsimmons, and he's a regular in top 10's ever. I do think that some of the older fighters get over-rated by people trying to come across as if they know the sport better than others, and the winner of Floyd vs Manny would definitely be up there with anyone to lace up a pair of gloves.

Pretty much how I see it thus far: I have Pac around 33ish, and Floyd around 38ish. . . Really not that much separates them. . Maybe a bit further apart than that - maybe 10-12 spots separate them.

I'm also on the boat that Floyd will more than likely outbox Pacquiao. . . But I don't think it's set in stone - Pac has all the assets that could beat Floyd.

I think if Pacquiao beat Floyd, after beating Bradley, and retired, he'd have to be a top 15. . . If Floyd beat Pacquiao, he'd have to be a top 20.

People often mistake experiance for knowlege.

Experiance has earned the right to be listened to and considered, but it does not mean it's always correct. Understanding comes through intuition and an open minded approach IMO.

Don't go on to the classic forum often, because I fall out with guys left and right, who think that older era fighters are untouchable. I understand the history of Boxing because I've taken the time to learn about it. I've asked questions on things I don't know and taken the answers in. I respect the history of this sport, the fighters, but I don't place them on a throne.

Actually yeah, I can agree with this. . . Whoever wins would be a top 10. .

Damn it's just so hard for me to ever make up a list 'set in stone', because I can always agree with an argument somebody else posits on why a certain boxer belongs here, or doesn't belong there, etc. . .

is someone taking shots at the type that always discuss legacy and rankings (found in the general and classic sections), but know **** all about the actual boxing and can't analyze the technical side?:yep

A noble attempt SJ, but the objectivity won 't last long.

I'll say this, I think you're on the money(no pun intended) with this one.

No neither fighter will ever get into the top 5 or 10 ATG.

    Completely agree with that.

Like yourself, i love boxing and have spent a lot of time over the years watching videos, reading articles and books etc on fighters from every era and have nothing but respect for all of them. That said, i do think they get over-rated quite a bit in general.

You see alot of fighters get put in a top 10/20 ever and some of their records simply don't compare to the likes of Floyd and Manny, but because they fought in 1910 they're put there by some people. Don't get me wrong, i have Ray Robinson as the GOAT and the likes of Greb, Armstrong, Ezzard Charles etc not far behind, but certain fighters get horribly over-rated imo.

SugarShane mentions potential wins over Martinez and Ward aswell as Pacquiao. Not joking, that's literally GOAT material, certainly up there. Imagine the following record:

    Undefeated World Champion at 130, 135, 140, 147, 154, 160 and 168.
Wins over Andre Ward, Manny Pacquiao, Sergio Martinez, Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton, Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corales, Genaro Hernandez, Victor Ortiz, Carlos Baldomir, Arturo Gatti etc and P4P #1 for a decade. Insane.

    Fine point of discussion SJS.
But I think Floyd and Manny are only possibly contenders for the all time top ten because they're in the here and now.
Floyd has the ability and skill to possibly crash the top 7,but his fairly hollow resume will always count against him in years to come.
Manny is almost the opposite. He has the achievements of a top 10'r,but if you scratch the surface, there are holes aplenty in that claim.
Both are the best of their generation for differing reasons, but without a defining fight,I'd put Floyd somewhere between 12 and 20,and Manny between 17 and 25.
But if I had the benefit of being around to see some of the greats who we can't find on Youtube,I'll bet they'd be further down my list.

I don't think a top 10 would be concern about his health , especially a welterweight against an Asian midget.

You have Mayweather above Pacqauio? I think Skills and resume need to be taken into account, Roy Jones is ranked so high based mostly on how good he was.

I refuse to put rose tinted glasses on :smoke

    Objective discussion dick hole
