Who were the Boxers who fell from grace in the shortest time?

Buster Douglas and to a point, Roberto Duran (LeonardI and II) come to mind.

But who else, of the less obvious variety, showed brilliance in a career best performance, only to encore with mediocrity?

Vernon Forrest? Beats the P4P best fighter in the sport and then goes and loses twice in quick to succession to Ricardo Mayorga.

When was Guinn ever Brilliant? Talented yes, and seemingly with potential (I will admit, I brought quite a bit of the hype), but Brilliant?

Good call. The only thing I would say, is styles make fights, and Forrest had beaten Mosley as an amateur, and I (smugly;)) never fell for the Mosley hype, and called Vernon to give Sugar Shane hell (although, I did not have the bottle, to call the Forrest win, for fight one:mad:.)

Thad Spencer deserves a mention even if he wasn't ever exactly brilliant he was riding high after beating Terrell and then he promptly fell appart after that.

pavlik more recently. douglas is also a good call. jeff lacey is close, but he was never brilliant and has no credible wins.

Terrible Terry McGovern started his violent career at the age of 17 years old in 1897.He proceeded to flatten such great featherweights like George Munroe,Pedlar Palmer,
    George Dixon,Eddie Santry,Oscar Gardner, Aurelio Herrera,and about 35 other men,until
he met Young Corbett in 1901,and lost his title by a KO. McGovern was only 21 years old and through as a fighter. No great fighter was through by the age of 21 years old,as
    Terry McGovern...

Antonio Margarito. He entered the limelight after a victory over Miguel Cotto only to then get battered in his next fight against Shane Mosley.
